A friend and I just got back from a 5 night stay at Z Ocean Hotel. The location is the best, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the beach is gorgeous. The downside is that it is, in fact, a bit neglected. The place feels like it needs some attention to bring it back to what it once probably was. Our room was quiet and roomy, and for two women traveling together, it was a perfect layout. Two separate vanities and a great shower with excellent fixtures. A TV wall separating the room with a big bed on one sde and a pull out couch on the other. Sleeping arrangements were the problem. The big kingside bed was wonderful for one of us, but the pullout sofa bed was HORRIBLE! It was a lumpy, filthy "memory foam"mattress with big seams going sideways. There were blood stains on it. Really! We had to call downstairs for sheets because there were none in the room. For 5 nights, one of us (me) was really uncomfortable. For almost $500 per night, they really need to upgrade their sleeping arrangements. t would take such little effort to make this hotel a true find, but somebody really needs to get on that!
Great location , we stayed here since we were going to Sobe food and wine festival.. It felt great to just get out of the festival exit and walk right up to the Z… a special Thanks to Tomas for hooking us up and letting us checkin right before the festival to be able to leave our bags in the room and upgraded us to a pool view room … Thank you very much!! I have to say service was very good and I have stayed in many different hotels and they just dont answer the phone. Here they answer and it takes just a few min to bring us towels for bath rug or pool towla as well… Only things I noticed is the hotel needs major remodeling … Very nice and vibey … but as soon as you walk in you get hit with a really nasty sewer smell… hallways are a little old school looking .. then once you get into the room .. it was clean , but once again old school decor and you can tell the walls and edges ,baseboards, tiles, furniture need a re vamping ..One thing that stook out was the toilet paper quality and the water pressure was the best !! Also beds comfy too … our view was the pool which had a view a little obstucted but pool was a little dirty on the sorroundings all around the pool there was mold all around the tile work that needs to be addressed .. you can see the line of the mold where it hasnt been cleaned for quite a while.. rooms are spacious and balconies also have 2 layout chairs and a set of 4 chairs and a table…it was nice and relaxing but once again needs major work .. there is valet on Collins ave side for the hotel at $35 bucks a night .. Quick valet service… bar dowstairs and the front porch cafe for lunch and apps and drinks .. Also they have room service… One last thing I didnt like was that same humidity smell came with us in our cloths and I had to rewash even items I brought that still had tags on it and had to wash…
Stayed here for the day while waiting for a late flight home. Very nice hotel - big room with nice bathroom and great view of the pool. Short walk to a beautiful beach - the resort fee covered two comfortable lounge chairs and an umbrella. Lots of restaurants and shopping around. I'd stay here again.
