We were told 2 days before arrival that due to a renovation there would be no food or beverage facilities available. I called and left a message to see what other options were out there, left a message but received no answer. Checking in was a mess as we were given an accessible room, which was not ordered. That was corrected the next day but set the tone for our stay. This property needs a renovation, with a dark and dreary lobby, a 3 foot electric fireplace installed during the Eisenhower administration, elevators personally put into use by Mr. Otis himself. and oh yeah, did i mention no food or beverage. But we did receive a cup of coffee each morning in a plastic cup along with a day old danish slipped into a brown paper bag out of embarrassment. No amount of renovation money is going to overcome the poor management and lack of communication exhibited by this "Luxury" As long time loyal Marriott users , i am warning you to stay away, stay far away from this hotel.

My recent stay at the W Hotel New York City was a mixed experience. On the one hand, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the views from the hotel were absolutely incredible. On the other hand, the rooms were quite small with limited storage. The hotel’s restaurant offerings were also limited and vastly overpriced. Despite the negatives, I would recommend the W Hotel for those seeking a convenient and pleasant stay in the city with fast service

We stayed at the W Union Square for 3 nights with our 10 year old son while visiting friends in town. I was hesitant to stay there after reading a lot of reviews, however we were very happy with it. There is no restaurant or lounge right now, and the lobby is very small till the renovations are complete, however none of that impacted our stay. We had a park view, king room with twin bed (it’s actually a day bed). The room was huge, and the bed for our son was perfect for him. I am 5’5 and it would have been fine for me as well. We called down to have them bring up sheets, blankets, and pillows for us and they set the whole bed up. The view from the room (907), was amazing. We’ve never had a view like this in any of the hotels we’ve stayed at in the city. I could look out the windows forever. The heat was an issue, it would get really warm very quickly. So, I turned it off for the 3 days we were there. It was totally fine then, never even got cold with it off. We were right across from the elevator, no noise issues, and we hardly ever heard another guest. Bring a noise machine to block out city noises. You don’t need a restaurant at the hotel, you have the whole city right out your door. We got bagels every morning at Gramercy Bagel, yum! There is a CVS, Dunkin, Starbucks, little bodega, cafes, restaurants all within a short walk. They do have coffee in the lobby in the morning. We would not hesitate to stay here again, all though I’m sure the prices will go up once the renovations are complete.
