Villa Cora is located in a centuries-old park that overlooks the Boboli Gardens, on the hills just outside the historical centre of Florence. The villa is an aristocratic residence built at the end of the XIX century upon commission by Baron Oppenheim reflecting the architectural styles of that period. It is dominated by a strong eclectic decor that provides the villa with different, sometimes even bizarre, artistic styles. Villa Cora, inaugurated when Florence was the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, has become throughout the years one of the major cultural and cosmopolitan symbols of Florence.
Villa Cora earned its reputation by hosting international guests of great importance, such as Princess Eugenia, wife of Napoleon III, and the Russian composer Tchaikovsky. In addition, it has always been considered the most beautiful residence of the Tuscan capital. Villa Cora became an exclusive grand hotel at the end of 1960 and reopened in late 2010 after a detailed three-year restoration. In 2016, Villa Cora becomes part of The Leading Hotels of the World, an international collection of luxury independent hotels.

We have stayed in many 5-star++ hotels in the world and this hotel ranks in our top 5, from the service to the location to the views to the exceptional rooms. Upon arrival, we were personally welcomed by the GM, who takes a "hands on" approach to operating this Grand Dame, originally built as a proposal (they married, she fell in love with the gardener, he tried to burn it down). Bianca at the front desk is amazing and friendly and can do anything. She helped another guest locate lost luggage from an airline, spending hours on the phone with them. Yay Bianca!! The rooms are very comfortable with all the luxury amenities you would except. WIFI is excellent. Immaculate. Not one bit of dust or scuff on walls. Breakfast is lovely, a large spread with also an a la carte option. Everyone in there is cheerful and it's probably the best crew of the lot. Dinner was fine but we enjoyed our dinners in the city a bit more. We used the shuttle several times and also enjoyed the 15-20 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio through charming streets. Much easier on the downhill but we did both. Tip: When taking taxis back, it's much easier and cheaper to take them from the Villa Cora side of the river, ideally the one way road that heads back towards Villa Cora, otherwise you end up in terrible traffic which you pay for. Most of the guests here are well heeled and dressed up, so pack accordingly. I'm looking at you fellow Americans. Don't be showing up for breakfast in cargo shorts and sweatpants. The Porsches and Bentleys out front tell you that this clientele does their shopping at the finest stores around the world. Service is friendly and not pretentious, and we loved the location. We will return to Villa Cora! Best from Roberto e Tomasso!

An absolutely exceptional property. The hotel is just gorgeous. The rooms are lovely and different from one another. Everything in the rooms from the beds and sheets, towels and toiletry to every little detail, is very luxurious and well thought out with guest comfort in mind. The staff are exceptionally warm and hospitable. The breakfast is wonderful. The other F&B outlets are also great. Wonderful wine list and reasonable priced. The pool is heated, so even until mid October, if not later, you can easily use the pool. The SPA is very well equipped and has many options from treatments to other spa facilities ( sauna, steam room, hot tub,...) Lorenzo at concierge is very friendly and knowledgeable and can help with anything you need for an exceptional visit to Florence. His restaurant suggestions were right on point. This hotel is a must visit. And don't forget to take your aperitive to the rooftop for an unforgettable view!

The villa is beautiful and elegant, the pool area is lovely but be careful of the rooms. Some in the main villa are small and dark but still charged at an extortionate rate. Service was cool and not overly friendly apart from the day when a wedding party was arriving and it seemed to improve dramatically. The Shuttle system is good but not something you can rely on to be there when you need it but it is a good add on. The outdoor terrace is lovely and views towards Florence are beautiful. There is some road noise due to the position of the hotel close to a busy road. I have given feedback direct to management and hope this might be considered for the future guests to enjoy as it would greatly enhance this beautiful and unique hotel.
