The Vida Downtown was our choice of stay as we wanted to be in the City, we usually stay at Jebel Ali on the second palm, but this hotel was excellently located, literally 5 mins walk from the Burj Khalifa and Mall, The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us, they were very attentive and all enjoyed being able to help us. We stayed Bed & Breakfast only as our friends who we met there were going on to the Maldives after 3 days of our meet (we flew out to surprise them) we did anticipate leaving and going to our old haunt of JA Palm Tree Court, but as the location, food, and Hotel were so nice, we stayed here for the whole 6 days we were in Dubai. The manager/Polish/Scottish lady was very nice the waiters and waitresses were so attentive. A real chill in Dubai and a great point to venture to other places... Dubai Marina/Burj Al arab etc. The room was nice, we were on the 6th floor, but all in all a really lovely hotel for the cost. I agree with the sun hitting the pool, but I guess that's what happens when they build around you, but never the less a lovely pool and chill out area... on a side note the pool manager/lifeguard was always cleaning the area, making sure you were ok with ice water and when little ones/youngsters were in the pool, he never took his eyes off them.... excellent care.

Stayed for 5 nights on bed and breakfast basis to celebrate my 51st birthday which fell on the day of check out from the hotel. Having been to Dubai on two previous occasions staying in 5 star establishments (Festival City and Bluewaters) we wanted to stay Downtown for a different vibe and experience and chose this hotel due to the boutique styling of the hotel from TripAdvisor photos and the location close to the Dubai mall and Burj Khalifa which is literally 5 mins walk to see in its full impressive glory. I’m sorry but I’m really not seeing why this hotel is receiving 5 star reviews and am sharing my honesty with equal balance where able so that others can make an informed decision without raising expectations before booking. The hotel doesn’t look impressive from the street, resembles an apartment block with a tradesman style side entrance beside the pool for footfall guests easy access and even the drive up to the main entrance was rather low key one would expect from a 2 or 3 star establishment. Not sure why they have door people - they don’t rush to your arrival and just stand there looking at you whilst you try to negotiate the large heavy front doors - incidentally the glass wanted cleaning! We weren’t struck by the lobby area which liked far more opulent shabby chic in photos and more tired and underwhelming in real life - so no wow factors on arrival here. The lady on the kiosk style desk was friendly enough and swiftly checked us in advising we had been allocated a pool view room! So this is where our expectations were raised unnecessarily because it was only a pool view if you cricked your head sharply to the left with your face pinned up against the glass. This wasn’t even a full view but the small hint of lit blue water and the top of a cabana. The view infact was the entire terrace of someone else’s room with sunbeds on and you had to be careful not to have the light on as the hotel staff frequently on this terrace could easily see inside the room. The room was small, on the 4th floor and very dark during the day. It would be darker had the room not be an open plan aspect and painted white with mirrored doors. The hallway carpet from the lift clearly worn, shabby and wrinkled up in places - this hotel needs a refurb. The carpet in our room was also a bit tired and grubby where it met with the tiled flooring and the grouting in shower and toilet areas dirty. Bathrobes we’re provided but strangely removed daily and on 2 evenings not replaced and given the fact you need the light on during the day time even to pop to the loo - a robe is a necessity. We rang housekeeping on the second occasion to advise robes were not replaced and they were brought to the room immediately - then followed by another guy 5 mins later querying if we had robes knocking on the door. Only 5 mins later again the housekeeping Manager whenI was partlyundressed trying to put on said robe - arguing at the room door insinuating we were being untruthful about therobes stating he checks rooms himself. So I insisted he come into our room to check again and he declined choosing to remain at the door arguing with us so I opened the wardrobe doors to show him, I opened my suitcase and the toilet door to show there were no extra robes pointing out I wouldn’t take a robe for a hotel, I’m really not that desperate. I pointed out that this wasn’t the standard of hotel I’d expected and wouldn’t have had this conduct at Caesars Palace where we stayed on our last visit, bidding him goodnight. The following day new robes again but sarcastically hung on hangers from the bathroom fretwork. Breakfast was so unorganised, the buffet doesn’t get replenished and waiting staff walk by your table ignoring you. We had to ask if we could order our Al a carte choices and even getting a coffee was no easy task. On one occasion I had no cutlery on the table, so asked and then on returning to the table with fruit - someone had taken my cutlery!! So I had to get my own as no staff were around On our last day I opted for buffet breakfast for speed - it was my birthday and not one my ember of staff wishes me any wishes despite the hotel being aware! Stood at the buffet station - no hash browns with another lady also waiting plate in hand like we were at a soup kitchen - the amount of staff members coming out of the kitchen looking at us both and not asking if they could help was ridiculous. Ignored. I had to speak up and stop someone to get gash browns replenished. Bread was also in ration at the toaster with only a dark rye/brown baton being left. My husband wanting a white bloomer or baton to toast - having finally caught the attention from a waitress she almost refused to bring some white bread from the kitchen and only offers this very hard brown remaining baton reluctantly going to fetch 2 slices of white from the kitchen and only when he told her he doesn’t like brown bread. Checking out of the hotel, our private car waiting for us, the door people didn’t come to our aid to take cases or help with the heavy door trying to negotiate with my hand luggage and push the door at the same time, they just stood and stared! The pool is small and only 2 cabanas near the bar area get sunshine due to the sun being blocked by skyscrapers and that’s only for part of the day. The guy on the pool bar not attentive and spends more time on his phone behind the bar. Shocking service in this hotel, the only good point is it’s location, I seriously would not stay here again or recommend.

Great experience, comfortable, easy check-in/checkout, attentive people, would come back. Close to downtown shopping and a lot of restaurants and attractions. Very safe to walk in the streets at any time.
