Me, my husband and our two best friends stayed at Ushuaia around the 3rd week in September 2022. We also had 2 other friends staying at another hotel nearby. We love Ibiza and visit the Island every year (with the exception of Covid). Due to not being able to visit because of Covid restrictions, we thought we would treat ourselves and stay somewhere a but more special than normal. Having visited the Club many times for events, we decided to book Ushuaia. This cost a lot of money for us and we paid this off over almost 2 years! We booked ‘Superior Club rooms’ as wanted to be near the action on event nights. Upon arrival at the hotel we were immediately shown the location of our room on a map, our room was located facing the opposite end of the stage, facing the wrong way. We were really disappointed with this. At the time of booking I remember thinking ‘Superior Club room’ sounded epic and thought all the rooms, (particularly one called a ‘Superior Club room’) would of course have a view of the stage… I have raised this with Ushuaia and they will say its like any hotel where you would pay extra for a ‘sea view’ for instance. In my mind the small room facing the wrong way, nowhere near the action was nothing like what we believed we had paid for and was certainly not Superior, nor was it 5*. What’s worse is that reception use your inevitable disappointment at the rubbish location of your room as a sales pitch to sell you one actually facing the stage…. ‘ For ONLY £1,000 extra, Look what you could have had’ this actually happened and left us with a very sour taste in our mouths upon arrival. They also take a 400 EURO security deposit from you, which is annoying and I wish I had known about. This deposit doubles up as ‘credit’ to spend at the hotel but is quite clearly another way to take your money (and make it hard to get it back) We were shown to our room and the disappointment continued. The rooms are very small. They reminded me of a shipping container, narrow and dark in their uniformity. You have a fully stocked, beautiful bar in your room but no prices attached (there is a QR code but we didn’t bother even looking as had read that the prices were border line extorsion.) We were charged to use the Ushuaia plastic cups in our room which we did not take and are re-useable? So why aren’t they being re-used? Everything in the room with a logo on pretty much is chargeable and we were terrified to touch anything particularly as we were down 400 EURO. In my opinion this room was not 5**** standard for the following reasons: As mentioned the room was very small and dark, the wallpaper was peeling in places, there was an enormous crack in our mirror, the toilet paper was maybe 1ply, like the cheapest ever, the bed was small and uncomfortable, our fridge door would not close so kept falling open and the light went off all night but the worst thing was that there was NO WORKING AIRCON THROUGHOUT OUR ENTIRE STAY. We could have put up with the other concerns but not this. We complained about the aircon and our complaints were initially shrugged off ‘its being looked into’ type thing. Another time we were told “‘it’s the end of the season, what do we expect?” Eventually we were moved to another room in the tower which was far far nicer than the one in the club but it again had no working aircon. Our room faced the runway for Ibiza airport which meant that we had to sleep with the door open due to no aircon and listen to planes landing and taking off all night. One thing I wish I had known at the start was that upon arrival you are provided with a coloured wristband which we later discovered correlates to how much you pay for your room. A red band I guess would be equivalent to 3rd class passengers on the Titanic… Gold 2nd class and so on and so forth. I would also consider that this directly correlates to the level of customer service you receive. Overall the Tower Hotel is beautiful, however I would never re-book to stay here due to the reasons above. There is a constant feeling of contempt from the staff to their customers and overall we felt like we were mis sold a dream. Visit the hotel on event nights, use their pool but go and stay somewhere cheaper where they value their customers. I have stayed in 5* hotels and neither the hotel nor the service is worthy of this rating in my opinion. The lack of aircon and reluctance to do anything about this was unacceptable. Overall we would never stay here again and feel like the hotel wants to aim itself at the super wealthy customers only who either don’t notice or don’t seem to mind being totally ripped off.

Hotel was great fun. Nice room overlooking the beach and the beach beds and bar were great during the day. Be careful if you have a room which requires walking through the main club. You will not be able to take any liquids purchased from shops to your room from around 5pm until after 11pm. The security are very strict and we were unable to get into the hotel at one point. We had a brilliant time but I was in for a shock on my return home. I left my credit card as a deposit for any purchases in the room. We only used the plastic cups which were 22 euros, but on return I had been charged £102 with no bill or receipt provided to explain the charge. I have called, mailed, messaged via social media (the same channel I used to enquire about a VIP table which interestingly they responded to within an hr !) and received no response at all. Its not a massive amount of money but that's not the point. So my advice would be to make sure you settle your credit card bill on departure and don't let then tell you this can't be done because its in the terms and conditions attached.
