Universal’s Loews Royal Pacific Resort

Friendly and informative check in on arrival. The express passes worked really well and made a big difference in the parks. Level 7 lounge was excellent with good choice of food and drink throughout the day.Lounge staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, it does appear that some people take advantage of the lack of eligibility checks to access the lounge… Pool area excellent - generally plenty of beds available in a morning but becomes an issue when people reserve with towels for the day then head off to the parks. Good towel service, attentive waiting staff and the DJs were brilliant. Great food at the poolside Bula bar / restaurant. Gym is well appointed with good opening times (5am-11pm), water, fruit and towels. However, pins for the machines / benches had a tendency to disappear rendering the kit unusable (or unsafe if people choose to improvise with makeshift pins). Needs closer monitoring and attention - availability of gym facility / equipment is a big requirement for some people. Rooms were of a good size generally, but would help if family rooms came with a double plus two singles, rather than two doubles. Cleaning staff did a good job. Comfortable walking distance to Universal parks (10-15mins) but regular boat shuttle is there when needed. Overall, a very enjoyable stay (two weeks)

Great location but a dated and worn hotel. We booked this hotel for its proximity to Universal and the fact that it comes with express passes. Both of those aspects were fantastic. The room and overall state of the hotel however requires a significant refurbishment. The room was very well worn with marked walls and furniture, small damages everywhere and just a general sense of not being particularly clean. Although the room was serviced daily, it was never as clean as one would expect with crumbs on the carpet and stains on the quilts. I would stay again for the location and passes but the price is not worth it for the hotel alone.
