We came here because we had to evacuate our home during the hurricane. We chose to pay for one of the most expensive rooms looking for a little‘comfort’ through this thing. This is supposed to be a high class resort but that’s not what we experienced. Even though we already booked our room and was charged for the first night, we had to wait a while to get checked in. The hotel staff informed me that housekeeping would be minimal since they were at full capacity. Our room was no where near a junior suite status needing much updating. It had tired wallpaper, scraped up furniture, night stand drawer that wouldn’t close, dark lighting, missing light over the coffee machine etc. They only gave us one coffee for our coffee maker and when I asked for more it took an hour to get it even though I offered to run down and get it. The drinks at the bar are horrible but they charge the ‘resort’ price. They still charge an 18% gratuity even when you do carry out food. The staff is not friendly; had a staff member argue with me when I tried to go to the beach. The fitness room needs some maintenance and updates This hotel is tired with unfriendly staff with substandard drinks but priced as if it is top notch. I would advise you to look elsewhere.

We come to SI once a year and this was our 7th stay at Trump. It's an older property by now, but has still been a solid hotel choice over the years. However, this time deterioration in both service and amenities was everywhere. The first unpleasant encounter was at the front desk. You are presented with an entire page of disclosures which MUST be accepted to complete the checkin. I don't know if I overlooked it in the past or if this is a recent "innovation" but one of these disclosures states that the hotel supports a local hospital and that by checking this box you agree to make a $1 donation. You are to notify the front desk if you are not willing to donate. But you still must agree to this donation to complete the check-in. There's no way around it. Given it's placement, many guests overlook this disclosure or feel uneasy about asking to opt out of the $1 charge. Sure, it's a trivial amount, but this is nothing but noble pickpocketing. This business thinks if it takes $1 from your wallet and leaves you an obscure note with instructions for how to protest, it's a totally legit practice. After all, if you do mind, it will redeposit the $1. What an ignoble stunt! I refused to check the donation box and was told by the clerk that he couldn't check me in and threatened to cancel my reservation. WHAT? You think you can hold your guests hostage to your charitable giving policies which have NOTHING to do with your main line of business? Let's see if BBB agrees. You have a charitable cause, that's great. Pay into it from your OWN profit. Most people prefer to be charitable on THEIR terms, not be slighted or shamed into donating. MAKE THIS FIELD OPTIONAL. Our room had peeling wallpaper and nasty carpet you wouldn't want to walk on barefoot. The final blow was a sudden streak of water, which started coming down from the ceiling AC filter housing in 2-3 minute intervals dumping about half a cup each time. So much water in fact, that it started to flood the room floor. We asked to be re-accommodated. The main pool had empty beer cans, bird feathers, sunscreen residue, straws, leafs and who knows what else floating in the corners. Totally disgusting. If you dare getting into one of their pools, I recommend the lower lap pool. Staff were nice. The soccer pitch and organized soccer matches/practices on Sundays was a nice touch. Our kids loved it. However, there will not be a stay #8 for us.

Hotel is dirty. Way understaffed. Your commercial on the TV shows amenities you don't even have. Paddle boards? Jet skis? The standing water in the broken fountains at the pools is DISGUSTING. The pool bathroom is repulsive. Never cleaned. Pools are nasty. Our carpet was dirty and why did we not hear a vacuum in the common areas our entire 5-day stay? Your hotel is a has been. The only good thing. The beds. "Fully equipped kitchen" is a joke. That's a big reason we chose this place to dine in. My camper kitchen has way more in it! Y'all are basically liars. I know you don't care or you wouldn't keep false advertising. Believe what you read on trip advisor bc it is all true. The people working there don't have the best attitudes but why would they? Way understaffed. I'm sure they feel defeated the moment they walk in for their shift. Won't ever stay there again. Broken lights in bedroom. Broken toilets. Nothing in the fully equipped kitchen. Dirty carpet. Dirty furniture. Old dried blood in the bathroom. Use pools at your own risk bc they don't test the water and don't appear to clean it. I am telling you to choose elsewhere.
