The May Fair

The vibe and presentation on the ground floor belies a rather tired bedroom flooor and bedroom. The reception staff were excellent as was the bar / small snacks staff. We were happy to wait for our key and we’re delighted with the courtesy shown. There is no doubt that a freshen up is required and given the (apparent) clientele I am surprised that there is no evidence of a programme of improvements. Breakfast was well run and adequate with plenty of staff around.

The hotel was excellent. The guest experience manager Mina was an absolute star. She made sure everything was perfect for our stay and I could not be more grateful. She pulled out all the stops to ensure our birthday was special. The room was lovely, a great hotel and breakfast was delicious. I would 100% recommend and I will be excited to plan my next stay!

I will list below the things that have gone wrong thus far: - keys continually breaking so we had to venture back downstairs each time. No apology each time (we were on 3rd floor so a pain) - charging card TWICE and then being impossible to get any sense from anyone to receive our refund. We are still waiting for a refund on a room we were charged £495 that we didn’t have/book - we booked at an agreed price but they then decided that wasn’t the case so we had to stand and wait which subsequently meant we missed our train home - our stay was over a week ago and we are STILL waiting for a refund for a room we didn’t have - I left a fendi ring on the side by accident still no response from housekeeping to say if they have it, despite me knowing clearly where it was left - my friend paid her 1/4 of the hotel on her card, the hotel then attempted to charge her another £495 for the room - the rooms were freezing cold We booked this hotel as a treat for a friends 30th and have been left completely disappointed. Some staff were helpful and considerate but some were nothing short of rude and disrespectful. We were talking about over 2000£ in total that had been debited, no small change. The bar was a good vibe in the evening but I think we will visit and stay down the road!!!!
