There's nothing terribly wrong with The London Edition, but there's nothing terribly right either. My wife and I stayed for several nights recently and we were generally underwhelmed. It's a nice enough property (though I think the 5-star is quite a stretch, especially for London), and the location is great - it's in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle and crowds of SoHo. But the rooms are hit and miss, and overall it seems overpriced compared to other upper-tier hotels in the West End. There can be quite a bit of noise, depending on your room location, and in fact we requested room changes TWICE due to being placed directly opposite of staff areas where the doors were constantly slamming shut as people went in and out. Admittedly it wasn't an issue late at night, but if you're hoping to get a bit of rest during the day as we were (due to jet lag and time zone shifts), it can be very trying on the nerves. The staff was great at accommodating us though, and ultimately we were given a quiet room on a quiet floor. Bedding was comfortable, but the pillows were thin and flat in each of the rooms we had, so that is apparently their standard pillow. All of the rooms were relatively small as well, with very little work space if you happen to be on business and needing to work on a computer. It can be done, but it's tight. As other reviews have mentioned, don't expect ANY Marriott benefits - you won't get an upgrade (even though premium rooms and suites will be available for cash purchase on the website), and there is no lounge or breakfast benefit. Despite the carefully worded non-denials the management posts in response to other higher-tiered members' reviews, it seems there is enough evidence to suggest a deliberate trend with respect to room upgrades. For that reason alone, I would advise Bonvoy Elites to look elsewhere in the portfolio. But if you're OK with a standard room, not shy about calling out noise issues if they arise, and you can get good deal with points (we did, luckily), it's a nice property in a great location. I doubt I would stay again, but at the same time it wasn't a terrible stay.

fantastic location near everything West End! hotel definitely maintains the hip hotel vibes, with a lively lobby bar as well as main restaurant, Berners Tavern. Breakfast was always a treat with exceptional service from Anna and Via, who always remember our entire complicated orders! a few room mishaps put a damper on the stay (noisy neighbors) but thanks to the support and understanding of from the excellent reception team (Eirini, Rodrigo and Kimberley) everything was sorted in the end. I shall return!

It's fun to stay in a hotel of your own city, and we enjoy spending our birthday weekend at London Edition in the past years. This time in particular, Gabriel and the entire front desk and customer experience team, went the extra mile to ensure our stay truly special. We have been upgraded to a lovely suite, and a sweet note with thoughtful gifts were waiting for us when we returned in the evening. Thank you team.
