The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences

We just came back from The Fives and we had a great time but we couldn't say that it is a 4 or 5 star resort if we had to consider the fact that it is in The riviera maya area. Let's break it down real quick; The FOOD... Most of the food at this resort was what you would expect in maybe Cuba but it was very subpar for Mexico. Specially the buffets. We would give the food here a pass, so like a 3. The SERVICE... We had the opportunity to test out management and needed to be room swaped a few times. I say a few times because they got it wrong twice before finally fixing the initial issues. We can not speak for others but we did speak with many couples who also had these same issues when needing or requesting a different room because of issues. Big shout out to ALAN at the club who went above and beyond to rectify the issue at hand and got us back on our vacation as soon as he could. The STAFF... We had zero issues with the bar staff or any staff for that matter. Everyone smiles and greets you nicely and most will do anything they can to help you out with a smile! Shout out to Lacinda at the pool bar and also Abraham who work hard to get everyone drinks! The Entertainment...We thought it was a little lacking but some of the shows and such were decent. The BEACH and POOLS...The beach here is not like Cuban beaches of course but in the close vicinity, it is the best as they have people working to keep the seaweed under control and they also have huge sand bags to stop the wind and waves so you can still enjoy the ocean even in high winds. The Pools were always clean as far as we could see and we never struggled too long to find a set of loungers anywhere. The view at the infinity pool is very nice and you can either relax in the shade or cook in the sun! All in all, we enjoyed our trip because we always keep an open mind and just try to stay positive. We wouldn't recommend the Fives just because they are in an area where other resorts are way better for close to the same price. We hope our review helps others in making their decision on a nice place to stay.

On arrival we were told the room we booked would not have 2 double beds and only one king size bed for 4 people. Cots would not fit in the room and did not exist in this resort . The room will not work for 4 people.Only option would be to upgrade to a larger room for $600 usd. Reluctantly we took the upgrade as the man said he guaranteed we will not fit in the room booked. Later we find out the the room would have easily fit all of us and there were cots available . No responsibility for the high pressure unnecessary room upgrade. The stay had a few constant issues and no help from management. Very disappointed in the very expensive vacation experience here. Similar stays in the area were much better.

I loved every moment of my stay at The Fives, in fact it was my favourite hotel I’ve travelled to throughout the years. The food, and service all around the resort was impeccable. Their are endless options of choices to eat from during the day from tacos, pizza, burgers on the beach- to buffets, or dine in options. Evening shows are fun and entertaining and then there’s many choices for how you’d like to continue your night after that. Gin bar, sky bar, plaza, or 1910. My favourite was going to the Plaza Bar and grabbing a beverage from the Mixologist, Ivan. His drinks were so delicious, and so fun. Everyday at 12pm noon I went to the Infinity Pool for Aqua Zumba with NRG2GO instructor Desarae. This was the highlight of my day. She brought so much energy to the class, and the whole pool was rocking and rolling. The gym facility has a great variety of equipment and the hours are great. The entertainment staff are excellent facilitating different activities throughout the day. Tavo, and Julian doing an amazing job getting all guest involved and creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere. 10/10 all around for this resort. Cannot wait to be back at The Fives.
