The Dylan

Tuesday last week my girlfriend and I treated ourselves to a wine pairing night at The Dylan. We had a truly amazing experience, every member of staff was welcoming, funny and charming. we left with nothing but positive feedback, given how amazing our experience was we decided to come again with our housemates. Again, the experience started in a superb fashion. Every member of staff was very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. Due to a mistake on our part we hadn't notified the restaurant that one of our table was a vegetarian. we apologised and asked that she wasn't served any more meat moving forward. The lady that was waiting our table became very abrupt and essentially gave us a good telling off. Later she returned to our table and some of our party apologised again (unnecessary) as they felt they had done something wrong. Later in the night I ordered a bottle of wine for myself, she left the bottle behind my seat on the window ledge so I was able to pour my own glass at my own leisure, I appreciated this. later on she returned as I was filling my glass and very aggressively told me that pouring my own wine offended her. " You wouldn't go to a hair dressers and cut your own hair " I had at this point filled my glass to a sufficient level, she then decided to take the bottle and fill my glass right to the brim. "Are you sure you don't want it all". Given that between our table we spent well over €700 we would never have expected to be treated so badly. I can honestly say that this is the worst experience we have ever had in any restaurant. To an extent this really spoiled our night, meaning that our only option was to leave early. I would also like to mention that every other member of staff was delightful, its a shame that one member of staff has really tarnished the image of The Dylan. We visited to The Dylan (OCCO Brasserie) to enjoy High Wine - their take on high tea. My partner had arranged this as a surprise. Such a lovely idea. Taking refuge from the city centre on new year's eve this was a little haven of calm and indulgence before the madness of later in the evening. Each of the wines was delicious and choices that we would never have chosen on out own and a perfect accompaniment to each of the amuse-style bites which were delicious and definitely more than just snacks. In particular the Iberico was outstanding. We would certainly do this again. A great was to spend an afternoon any time of the year

What a beautiful property. It's a true find in Amsterdam. With only 40 beautiful rooms you cannot go wrong. The staff from check in to restaurants to housekeeping was a 10 One of my favorite hotels in a favorite city.
