We’ve stayed at the Sunset Marquis tens of times over the years — and it is just the most special hotel, especially for music fans. The property is just beautiful, a little hidden garden in the heart of Hollywood— with an incredible rock history and amazing photography of all the musicians and bands that have stayed and recorded here over the years. (fave photos: Joe strummer in front of the main pool, Chris Cornell hanging outside room 103). The food is really good (great restaurant and 24/7 room service), but the best part of staying here is the very kind, cool staff. We’ve returned over many years and found the same staff at the front desk or on property — and to a person, they are all unfailing kind, service-focused and fun. On this trip they gave us a sneak peak into the amazing Nightbird studio! It feels like a home away from home for us when we come to LA— and we’ve even come with our kids and they had a great time at the multiple pools.

We picked this hotel purely from the reviews and although this method hasn't always worked out, we hit the jackpot with the Sunset Marquis. Our flight from the UK was delayed and although we arrived quite late at night, the check in staff were very friendly and helpful, we even got a room upgrade to a villa, which was fantastic. The villa was spacious and very comfortable, with everything you needed for a very relaxing stay. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was huge, with all the usual amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel. What I wasn’t expecting was the fully automated toilet complete with seat warmer. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant both mornings. The restaurant is set in the gardens and is a really peaceful place to have breakfast and start the day. The selection and quality of the food was excellent, as was the service. If we ever find ourselves staying in LA again, we will definitely be staying here.

It's difficult to describe how memorable my stay at the Marquis was. Let's start with my suite...recently refurbished...it was immaculate in every way. The Cavatina (open air restaurant) was so memorable, from the food and drinks to the staff (SIMONE...we love you!!) to the people that we bumped into (from the extremely well-known to my "regular" fellow travelers). To LOGAN...my bellhop (but so much more!) thank you for being you. I hope to pick up your future book of photos. I wish you the best of luck. To Sarah, who shipped some of my gifts back home to Texas safe and sound, I thank you as well. The location is perfect...it's in middle of everything yet just tucked away enough to feel private. I'll have memories to last a lifetime and I certainly will be back. There is no other place to stay on The Strip other than the Marquis. Cheers!
