I have staye dhere twice before - it is clean , the materials are good quality the pool near me is being refitted and the room tidy could have been more timely all in all a good stay the staff accommodated me when I received a smoking room!! Its close to the strip at Tim Bay and the peninsula raad for fun beaches
We were notified there was ongoing construction but I’ve never found that to be an issue, but this time…wow. The patio of our ground floor room looked directly at the pool being renovated (during a pretty slow time of year). No effort was made to obscure work, dirt piles or debris from view except a temporary chain link fence which they tied a few big pieces of black landscape fabric to. Although someone did try to cut a smiley face or Jack-o-lantern face on a few pieces. Supplies for an elevator upgrade lined up 8’ high along the back of the check in building facing the main pool area with no screening or anything to prevent obscure it. Beach was nasty with sargassum. We were told the trucks would arrive on Monday to haul away the seaweed but it never happened; another guest said they were told the equipment was broken. Much deferred maintenance in the room. We went to Reggae Beach Bar on the Marriott shuttle one day. Driving up it was completely ramshackle but the drinks were amazing and staff was great. And they haul away the seaweed regularly so it was swimmable. The local officials in St Kitts allow SEVERAL shells of condo type buildings (exterior walls, no roof) to sit untouched, several within a block of the resort. That was surprising given they are hoping to have tourism drive their economy. I was just disappointed Marriott didn’t invest more to maintain the property. Although the main pool area was nice and very enjoyable. In all, it was a relaxing week with good (but hot) weather, although we will be going elsewhere next time.
Stayed in the Palmetto House on the 2nd floor with an oceanfront view, amazing 2 bedroom unit with every amenity needed for a great stay. The 6 nights we were there the resort seemed empty which was great. South pool was being renovated but didn't notice any noise and the main pool was easily accessible and again, not crowded. Food was great with the Italian restaurant and pizza shop being the best. Enjoyed having a coffee shop on site which had great cookies and brownies. Staff was amazing and no real reason not to return. Hawaii has been our go to destination for the past 20 years but St. Kitts has moved up the list as it's pretty easy to get to from the Midwest and the time zone is easily adjusted too.
