Our villas at Soneva Fushi are located on the sunset or sunrise side of the island. While both sides have the Maldives’ signature white-sand beaches and crystal clear azure waters, there are a few differences. This side has three house reef access points and dolphins are more likely to be spotted in the channel. On this side of the island it is possible to see our neighbouring island, Eydhafushi, approximately 650 metres away. Guests who want more privacy may consider staying on the sunrise side of the island.

This was a holiday like no other. I kept expecting the other shoe to drop and for it not to be real. From the food, to the people, the activités to just the island itself was marvel after marvel. It was the best week of my life and to be able to share that with my children and loved ones was magical.
We stayed after 2 weeks being in another island (Kudadoo). It could not be different the 2 experiences. One small (only 15 villas) the other big, the one all inclusive where Soneva let you pay everything (we had a bad advice from the reservation department that did not tell us about the different packages and we had difficulties to book one we wanted). So take the meal plan, because if you think London restaurants are expensive Soneva prices are even above them. Overall food quality was excellent especially the out of the blue restaurant, we did not like the buffet evenings. One very private the other very social. You find a mix of posh english and noisy Russians (in this moment we feel not comfortable around them, so we avoided the bespoke restaurants) , but the returning guests (seems around 70%!) are lovely and great people. I need to say that Soneva is unbeatable for the beach, beauty of the island and the reef just in front. Outstanding was the diving experience, the diving instructor's (Fabio&Francesca) are amazing, not only personally but as well professionally. Fabio helped me to get a stronger confidence and taught me how to enjoy slow diving and concentrate on the details. By the way he has great underwater photos. We preferred the sunset side of the island, but the sunrise side has better beach. The villas are nice, but a bit dark.....
We were recommended Soneva Fushi for our recent trip to The Maldives and were not disappointed. Our 'Crusoe Beach Villa' was superbly appointed and beautifully designed. Everything you could wish for is provided, including privacy. The build quality and attention to detail is breath-taking. Unlike many resorts in The Maldives, you genuinely feel close to nature - they have deliberately allowed the jungle to grow and flourish and, more than anywhere else I have stayed in the region, you can connect with the surroundings. The villa was, needless to say, immaculate and fabulously luxurious. The private pool was a welcome, and very private, bonus. We enjoyed a 'turtle safari' with the resident marine biologist Rio and a simply amazing sunset 'dolphin cruise' where we were joined by literally hundreds of spinner dolphins. Truly, a once in a life-time experience. Every meal we had was exceptional but I must highlight the supper provided by their visiting (Michelin) chef from South America - absolutely world class. Final mentions to the 'astrology team' (yes, really) and the breakfast doctor, who prescribes micro-biotic shots and fierce herbal teas. This is the real Maldives and I am so happy to have experienced it.
