Six Senses Laamu

We had the opportunity to stay at several resorts in the Maldives, and I can confidently say that Six Senses Laamu is the best we have ever experienced. Everything was impeccable, from the moment we arrived in Male to the time of check-out. Six Senses Laamu is one of the most remote resorts in the Maldives, as it is the only one located on the Laamu atoll, making it unique, secluded, and teeming with marine life. The entire experience at Laamu is "barefoot"—literally, no one wears shoes! The laid-back style is reflected in the design and ambiance of the accommodations, all built from wood and in perfect harmony with the resort and location. The island offers a wide array of activities, and one week was simply not enough! I highly recommend the sustainability tour and a visit to the Shell (Marine research center), both of which were very impressive and showcased the resort's efforts to minimize its impact on the environment. The dining options are also plentiful. We enjoyed amazing sushi at Zen and had one of the most delicious pizza lunches. The teppanyaki dinner was also a lot of fun! Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing team that runs the resort. Many employees work together to ensure everything runs seamlessly. In particular, Pablo, our GEM, took great care of us in a polite and approachable manner, creating an unforgettable itinerary, and we are very thankful to him. The resort exceeded all our expectations. My partner and I enjoy staying active and have a keen interest in food and drink. Given the remote location, I was concerned we might become bored or restless. However, that was not the case—there are so many activities and experiences, with options changing daily. Upon booking the staff had encouraged us to extend our stay, I’m so glad we did! I would recommend a minimum 4 days here. We experienced two exceptional dining events: the sunken dinner and the private cellar dinner—both of which I highly recommend. The beach dinner was particularly unique, with amazing food. Despite having a few dietary restrictions between us, the chef accommodated everything without issue. We also enjoyed a private dolphin cruise with champagne and canapés. It was a fantastic experience, with 50-60 wild dolphins bow-riding alongside us. Our GEM (Guest Experience Manager), Soba, was always just a text away and more than happy to assist with any request we had. On our final night, we were fortunate enough to have dinner with Marteyne, who is an invaluable credit to the resort. All of her staff are a testament to her leadership. Our stay here has been incredible, and we will definitely be back. Thank you, Marteyne, Soba, and the entire island team!

The stay at the Six Senses Laamu was an experience of a life time (but now planning to return!), from the moment you get in the sea plane you feel like you are dreaming. When you arrive to the resort you really have to pinch yourself to make sure that what you are seeing is real. We stayed at a Villa in the middle of jetty A and the view of the open sea and sea life was magnificent, my wife got to experience snorkeling for the first time and she loved it. Everybody seems to know your name and congratulated us on our 30th. wedding anniversary, this adds to their personal touch. The cherry on the cake was our GEM Soba, he took care of us like we are part of his family, he let us know of some perks we were entitled to by being an IHG Diamond Elite member.
