Really the only good thing about this massive hotel is the location, easy walk to Broadway shows, but there are much better hotels within a block or two. The hotel feels old and tired. No restaurants except for a bar (open late) and a breakfast-only restaurant. Our room had no heat and barely any blankets. When we called the desk, they sent up an engineer some hours later who managed to make the central heating work, sort of, but barely any airflow. There was a freezing cold draft from the windows which are not at all airtight, so what little heating there was had a tough time keeping up. The vault in the closet it not work. The elevators are distinctly weird. Aside from the strange calling mechanism and nonsensical numbering scheme, which I have never seen anywhere else, when it arrives there is no chime or other alert, so if you blink you will miss it and have to start over. The baggage check guy is surly and would barely talk to us, and there is a $5 per day charge for luggage check even if you are just checking it until the room is ready. I can't think of anyplace I've stayed in New York that I liked less, and that's saying something.
Room was small and dirty, there was dust all over my room and a old candy wrapper in the shelf. Pretty disgusting. the front staff seems to have no idea or care to help customers, when I checked in -- they did not even know which was the west or east side or which rooms would be facing each. Additionally, the information he gave me was haphazard--- he essentially checked me in and then I had to ask every single question - where is the gym? do you have room service? what is the wifi? and then as I am walking away he says oh i forgot you have a 180$ credit (they give you money that you either spend on food at the hotel or it is just taken away from you). Felt completely disorganized and that whoever checked me in had no idea what they were doing. The bar tenders at the their lobby bar were incredibly rude and had no remorse. Additionally, they ran out of water bottles that were suppose to be complimentary and had no solutions or remorse. The elevators take forever bc of the odd design. I honestly dont know why anyone would every stay here - bad service, small dirty rooms, and not cheap. Would be worth to stay a little further away from this area in a much better served hotel in my opinion. one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at with this price point and was worsened by absoultey no care or consideration from management. HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING.
This is a review for their accounting department. Hotel overbooked on my stay and sent me to another hotel quite far away near Penn Station, requiring me to shift hotels in the rain during my stay. It took 5 phone calls and 10 emails to get a refund for the night I didn’t stay there, when I was told by the manager they would take care of it. No replies to emails and no call back. Was told I would receive courtesy points and never received them (I’m a Gold member). Hotel itself is incredibly hectic in the lobby.
