We were so looking forward to our 3rd visit to the valley wing, on arrival we were informed we were in the wrong wing which was the garden wing! We were very took aback when we were told we had been booked in there! This was despite me sending an email and receiving a reply a few weeks earlier! As you can imagine we were not impressed especially as Raja recognised us and came over to greet us! We produced our documents showing me were booked into the valley wing but not a great start! No being shown to the room no welcome back card no fruit,cake or bottle of wine like last previous visits as our anniversary had been remembered then without us informing them the 2nd visit! Room was lovely despite this and Raja made us feel welcome even if the hotel didn't! The breakfasts in the summit room are exceptional as was all the food offered, although afternoon tea portion served for 2 people was the average for 1 person as in 3 finger sandwiches for 2 people? So we asked for more but shouldn't have to ask for a hotel of this calibre! The canapés were delicious as usual, there was no harpist playing as in previous years too? We also found out that we were no longer allowed to use the horizon lounge as we were up there and disappointed to be told it wasn't allowed anymore also embarrassing! We also felt service levels had gone down we were told by a member of staff they only had 2 experienced members of staff in that night and it was apparent there are a lot of inexperienced members of staff some didn't understand English very well. To sum up we were very disappointed this time around, the send off was that there wasn't one just a thats all done here's your taxi! No how was your stay etc unlike our last time only Raja saved our visit from being a total flop and is a credit to the company! We think standards have slipped also no photo took to display at home in a frame anymore. It gives us no pleasure writing this, we are celebrating our golden wedding anniversary next year but will not be returning as the hotel did not make us feel special anymore..what a shame Shangri-La
We are family of four together with other three families stayed here for business and leisure. Just like other our Shangri La stay, i can't find any flaw. The staff were great in their task and managing guests. Started with Leeya whose very attentive in arranging our room. We arrived early and requested for early check-in as we have kids with us. We managed to get the room and she even gave goodies to our kids. They were happiest in the world. Every morning breakfast we were served the best omelette by Jaya Raj. He already knew my ingrediants selection for omelette during our second day of stay. Our kids completed their quest for treasure hunt by meeting two of the very gentleman, Benjie and Kumar. They explained about the hotel and Mongolia warrior, the kids amazed with that. Kaiween for taking care of baggage for storage before our flight in the evening. Kimi very helpful staff. Dylan become our friend and registered my friends for circle members. I told them they can collect the points and redeem food!, like we did at your mouth watering pastry shop. Thank you and thank you for the best hospitality given. My kids kept asking about when would be our next trip to Shangri la Singapore again. I really hope to see you again soon. Thank you!!
