Sensimar Minos Palace

Amazing hotel, everything you could wish for from a five star hotel. Spotless and the staff were fantastic and very professional. My only criticism is that after a 7 hour journey we sat waiting for someone to come and check us in and a waitress bought us a bottle of water. It wasn't until we paid the room bill on departure that we realized we had been charged €5 for it. To me that should have been complimentary and also the do not disturb signs fall off the handles. Perhaps a sliding sign on the door might be a better option.Other than this it was a lovely place to stay.

We have been to this hotel many times in the past. The new reception area, main bar and dining room have all been refurbished but they have a new communal WC which is odd and at times for a woman, uncomfortable. Our rooms this time were tired and shabby. We had suites with sharing pools but the outside areas were dirty, pools were dirty and not maintained, cracked and damaged loose tiles, no parasols for every room and it was very hot so they were needed. It was also very overgrown so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful views of the bay from the garden. The garden furniture was dirty (cushions) and the main mattress by the pool was torn and the wooden base worn with nails poking out. It felt like we were the forgotten rooms in the complex because the rest of the hotel is lovely. Spa facilities are good but expensive. Didn't use the gym. Breakfast was good for choice in the cold section but not in the hot which was generally not hot and sadly pretty tasteless. Same with the evening buffet. We tried the other restaurants in the hotel and the a la carte, which were all delicious but expensive. Service throughout was great and the young teams were keen to help when things were not right. Although they tried their best having to comment daily for things you need to make the experience better, doesn't help to make the stay very relaxing and without stress. Location is excellent and a quick ride into town in a taxi is only 7 Euro. Cars are in good condition, drivers helpful and all had air con thankfully. There are restaurants and bars in town which are good value and food, service very good. It was an expensive holiday for us and there is a lot of competition now in Crete with better, newer, quality hotels for the same price. Love the staff but feel this is now just about a 4* hotel.

Highlight of our stay in Crete! Such a thoughtful hotel that just finished a major renovation. Seems as if each and every detail had been throughly thought out. Situated in the mountains, the hotel almost blends into the surroundings. One of my favorite hotels I've stayed at in quite some time. I'm not a dinner buffet person, but theirs was truly great. Sun lounges are beautiful and many are built into the rocks. Easy commute from HER airport. Staff is beyond friendly. Highly recommend anyone coming to Crete make a visit to Minos Palace.
