My husband and I came here for our honeymoon in November of 2022 and we had the best service. We booked as preferred club members and that was so worth it. We didn’t need to do anything! We had a butler assigned to us (Anibal) and he was awesome. All we needed was to text him what we needed and it was done within minutes. It was truly a vacation that we didn’t need to do ANYTHING ON. We were truly able sit back and relax. All the staff members were so sweet and truly wanted to make sure you were having the best experience. We will definitely come back for an anniversary. This place will hold a special place in our hearts. It was such an amazing experience. I would give this place 100 stars if I could.
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon here. The resort was beautiful. The entire staff was so friendly and extremely welcoming, made you feel home and like family. Our room was spacious and beautiful with an ocean view. The food was good and the drinks endless. We had a personal concierge, named Gerardo. He was the absolute best. He checked on us multiple times throughout our 10 day stay to make sure we were having a good time and had everything we needed. I forgot to pack a straightening iron for my hair and asked him about the closest shops where I could find 1. Gerardo asked me to send a picture of the product I needed and he went out and brought 1 for me 1 evening after he got off work. He even called me while there to show me the size and price options to select from before he purchased it. Talk about above and beyond service. He also surprised us by having had our room decorated for a romantic honeymoon surprise with a door banner, and roses, a card and champagne. Our final full day/night was my husband’s birthday. Gerardo again had our room decorated as well as having a birthday cake made and delivered to the restaurant we planned to have dinner at that night. We ended up pushing our dinner plans back an hour and a half. [As to not ruin the surprise] Gerardo had the cake delivered to our room. It was the best surprise for both of us. He was truly amazing. Some of our other favorite staff were Yini, who we meet in the lobby. I believe she works as part of member services but I’m not entirely sure. She was warm spirited, funny and great to talk to every time we saw her. We loved CoCo who was part of the entertainment team. He was certain he and my husband were cousins lol. We also loved Johanna working at CoCo Cafe. She was very nice and always insisted we had as many desserts from the cafe as we could carry. We really enjoyed our honeymoon here and would definitely come back with visiting Punta Cana.
Overall a great vacation. I agree with the majority of other reviews so I won't repeat everything they've said. Resort was beautiful and all the staff was extra helpful and friendly. Our favorite parts were probably the food (Didn't have a bad meal. French is the best!), our butler (we aren't very needy but it was nice having him whenever something did come up), and the fun little things they did each day ; like coming around with champagne popsicles and crepes carts. Service at the preferred pool was also really great. We also loved that the Preferred Club rooms and pool were in a completely separate area of the resort (unlike the Hyatt Zilara) so we could actually get away from the music/noise/party atmosphere of the main pool. The soaking tub on the balcony was a nice addition, especially as we had a TON of rain and were sometimes able to sit in the tub when the wind wasn't blowing the rain in our faces. A few employees that went above and beyond for us and deserve recognition: Miguel (butler) Francy, Jeffrey, Javier (preferred lounge) Rosa, Yaylee, and Alba (preferred pool/Rosewater) Carlos Pineapple (Oceana) Joel (Seaside) There are two things we unfortunately experienced which lowered our rating from 5 to 4 stars: 1) The smoking/vaping. Despites signs and reminders that it is not allowed in many areas, it happens EVERYWHERE and nothing is done about it. Some even smoked, vaped, and chewed tobacco right in the pool! Not only is this gross and against the rules, it is a major health concern for many people. My husband has weakened lungs and easily reacts to smoke of any kind. We often had to completely leave an area - missing out on activities/entertainment/amenities that we paid for and were entitled to - just to get away from the smoke. Incredibly frustrating! 2) The drainage system at this resort is non existent. There was a LOT of rain during our trip and there was nowhere for the water to go. Many of the walkways flooded so badly they were impassable. There was flooding and pooled water in the stairwells and the huge main stairs up to the lobby had standing water on the landings because there are no drains. Also the INDOOR giftshops were flooded with several inches of water, and they were still letting people come in like this was normal. Major safety concerns!!! Plus unless you wanted to wade through ankle deep water to go somewhere else on the resort, you were trapped in your room during the storms. This led to two wasted days for us. We understand they don't control the weather, but the resort should have been designed to better handle the rain/storms that are common and expected in the area. This was our first time to a Secrets and we liked a lot of things about the brand. I feel you got a lot of value for the price. However the 2 complaints above were enough to keep us from visiting the Cap Cana again in the future. I would be open to trying another location.
