Lovely relaxing resort . Spent 5 nights /6 days. Food was great . Pools were nice. The staff was amazing. Angel was our butler . He went above and beyond . I do wish that there were a few more activities during the day. I think they could make better use of some spaces.
The good: EMILIO. We were fortunate to get a room in the Castle tower which means we had a butler. Knowing it would be a busy week at the hotel, by the time we arrive Emilio had already made us dinner reservations. He also made all of our spa reservations & checked in with us daily to make sure we were good. He was so friendly & always always greeted us with a smile. Fernando at the spa was absolutely wonderful & made our spa day so special. I had a facial by Sofia and it was so good I gave her a hug afterwards. Juan, Jesus, Francisco, Jacob, and Yeri were also staff members who went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The resort itself is beautiful. The food was fantastic. I ate at all the restaurants & I didn't have a bad mean once. The bad: We waited over an hour to check into our room even though it was well past check-in time. They forgot about us. Not just us, apparently it happened to other people as well. The fire alarm randomly went off at all hours of the day, all 5 days of our trip. Some of the staff was friendly, but some were not. Several of the males were extremely rude to my husband. I also saw some of staff members mocking the white customers. They customers were too oblivious to realize it but it was very obvious these men were not laughing with them, but AT them.
This property has recently become a member of Marriott's The Luxury Collection. I am a Lifetime Titanium Bonvoy Member and I had a reservation at this resort from November 25th to 30th. Due Fiona hurricane the property canceled my reservation. It was announced on the hotel's website that anyone who had a reservation during the period when the resort was closed could transfer their stay to one of its partner resorts, such as Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. So I sent an email on October 14th to Sanctuary Cap Cana reservations expressing my willingness to transfer my reservation to Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. To this day, no one has answered me. Inadmissible! Now I have the plane trip booked for those days and I have not a hotel to stay and no answer. Is this property that wants to be part of The Luxury Collection and does it treat its members this way? Luxury service should not only be available during hotel stays, but also in customer support services, both before and after the stay itself. Customer support and respect is something you don't have here!
