It is a beautiful island and property and could be a stunning hotel worthy of Leading Hotels of the World. However it suffers from lack of management and staff. Service is poor with the few good team members trying to carry the load. Tatch, Costi, the concierge team & Sara, guest relations among them. Sadly, a dispute with the hotel completely ruined my special birthday trip and we can never get that back.
Stunning location and beautiful hotel and grounds. Public areas in the hotel, corridors, bars, restaurants are amazing with beautiful artefacts. Our ‘Wing Room’ was small but beautifully furnished, large dressing room and great bathroom with lovely toiletries and fluffy white towels. Comfortable bed with lovely bed linen. Excellent breakfast. The downside was NO AIR CONDITIONING. Told that it had been switched off as the weather was not hot. It was! Our room was very hot and uncomfortable. Reception told us to open the window ‘it will be fine’ despite warning on window saying ‘do not open because of Mosquitoes’. Too hot not to open so we did and my wife woke up with 5 mosquito bites. Not the experience expected at a 5 Star hotel! Would put us off staying again.
Very disappointed by the service. Most staff seemed without training. At the bar I ordered drinks and was asked whether I wanted the drinks to be taken to the table … Air conditioning was not working and the room was very warm. But there was a warning on the window not to open it because of mosquitos. And indeed I had to open the window because of the heat but could not sleep. Our business dinner was also poor. The hotel is beautiful however and the grounds exceptional. Although you need to take a boat to go to Venice the hotel provides regular transfers.
