San Carlos Hotel, NYC
Nice place, could use a little sprucing up. The luncheonette across the street is good for breakfast. Hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. Good size rooms. Another good restaurant near the hotel is The Smith, good food, but somewhat understaffed for Saturday breakfast. The hotel is a good location to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center.

Outstanding hotel and location
San CarlosHotel had a surprisingly good rate considering how great it is. The location at 50th and Lexington is fantastic: within short walking distance of Grand Central, Saks, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, MOMA, excellent restaurants, and many other places you want to be. A Morton's grocery store is just 3 blocks away. Our queen studio was spacious and very comfortable, with separate sitting area and small kitchenette. Attractive lobby and very helpful staff. Be sure to check out this hotel if you are going to NYC.

Just nothing special.
The reception staff were warm, friendly and helpful, but that is it. The lobby is cold and uninviting, the room (though enormous) was old and tired, there was a (small) hole in the duvet cover, even the tea selection in the room was miserable. Nothing actually wong or bad, just... nothing special.
