Loved it. All food was delicious and the staff were so lovely. Never a problem getting 2 beds by the pool area and it was well set up. Our room was on the 8th floor, it was a good size with a little balcony for both of us to sit on. I loved the optics in the room so you had plenty of drinks to choose from. You do need to be organised if you want a dinner reservation at a popular time and get on the app 2 days in advance but you can always get a later reservation on the day. The coffee shop was a lovely touch and I was able to use the gym which was well equipped and maintained. I think it’s great that the hotel is adults only however, I do feel they need to decide what sort of hotel they want to be. I felt like they wanted to be a party hotel during the day, having loud music and drinking parties but be more relaxed in the evening. That being said we had a great time, even when Sub-tropical storm Nicole hit and the beach had to be closed. I will return
We have traveled many place internationally and I have to say this property is one of the most fun and catering experiences we’ve ever had. We already decided we will be back to RIU Paradise Island. Friendly staff, amazing food, clean pools, clean rooms and overall amazing place!
There're very few Pros and lots of Cons, so I'd start with Cons. Cons: - Beach area is 60x30 meters, very small for a 15-story hotel, so it is packed and half the people are smoking> You should designate a smoke area so non-smokers do not suffer. - 15-story building and has only 2 working elevators. Only one of them goes to 15 floor. Imagine the lines to those elevators. - We asked for the late check-out (2 hours), it was denied twice because of high occupancy. Then we spoke to a supervisor, she allowed a late checkout, charging $40 per hour ($20 p/person, p/hour). All other resorts (including RIU at other destinations) charge $20 per hour. So that was a rip-off. - Only one bar is opened after 8PM. For a 15-story hotel, that's not enough. The only bar is packed and hard to get a drink. Regarding the bar - please hire bartenders that know how to make a drink. Even simple drinks they had no idea how to make. They've been told how to make very simple drinks, and even those were hardly drinkable. - The AC noise is unbearable. There're few large AC units on the ground on one side of the hotel. You can't open a door to the balcony because of the loud noise from outside. - - Staff was somewhat friendly (aside from few people who will never crack a smile). The one person I want to mention - Cindy, she was a sweetheart. I wish more people were like her. - The room. You can't have these mattrasses and pillows in the hotel where you welcome people. The mattress side by the headboard was lower then the side by the legs. After a second night I had a backpain which I still have after coming back home. And I wasn't the only one. The pillows are so small, like they're designed for little kids. Please check, make it's time to replace them. - There's a public beach next to the resort, and all people from Cruises stay there. They come to RIU beach property, settle there, sometimes take RIU chairs, and nobody cares to tell them that they're in the wrong place. Also they walk by your chairs, so make sure you hide your belongings even if you just go for a swim. Pros: - Food was decent. Both in the buffet and restaurants. Can't complain there. - It was very easy to ask for service, if you needed one. You don't need to call the front desk, everything is accessible from the app, which was very convenient and easy to use. - Room cleaning was good. We left a tip every morning, so when we get back to the room, it was already clean with figurines made of towels on the bed, which was very nice. - The room bathroom and shower was good, everything in working condition, shower pressure was great, despite that we stayed on the 15 floor. - There're enough chairs and umbrellas at the beach, you just ask a beach attendant to bring as many as you need. They're all expecting tips of course (which they're getting), it looks like they do not get paid by the hotel.
