Looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the sun and water this IS NOT it! The room doors are not adjusted to operate the door quietly yet firmly so all day & especially in the morning there is a constant slamming of doors! I never witnessed maids utilizing this problem to get guests out of bed, but there is a distinct increase in slamming when carts start rumbling down the halls. I mentioned the issue to the front desk; they knew about it and thought it was funny. I contacted Riu by email their reply was to contact my travel rep!?? Stayed 10 days and the wind never quit, 2 yellow flag days the rest were red on a red flag day you get sandblasted. With such a strong wind and big waves crashing you shouldn’t hear much else however we went as far upwind from the pool area as possible but we’re unable to get away from the booming of the bass from the techno music at the pool area. There was a couple of nights with good entertainment, but generally it was very poor. We looked forward to the kids entertainment after supper, but it was disappointing. The adult leaders talk so fast and loud quickly switching from Mexican to English, generally with their backs to the children, that the kids are confused as to what to do. The adult leaders just want to show off and the kids just flail around looking lost. We’ve enjoyed our previous 4 stays with Riu but this new hotel is over priced, inadequately staffed (Covid issue?), poorly supervised and VERY, VERY L-O-U-D!

My boyfriend and I upgraded to this resort from Riu Latino. The resort is very nice. Big and busy. Very good food especially Mexican Restaurant and Steakhouse for Lobster( don’t get the steak). Buffet was amazing. Alcohol is very good. The resort is clean but needs more garbage bins and washrooms. It’s more for families and more relaxing mature vacation. Bars are closed at 12AM. Not much entertainment life. Beach is nice and it has many pools. The reception is not the best, made us wait for hours to get the room when we checked out of Riu Latino which is 5 minutes away. It would’ve been nice to have a smooth check-in so you don’t have to carry your personal belongings around and leave luggages in the lobby. Overall good resort. Definitely recommend for a quiet relaxing vacation for couples or families.

First time at a RIU property, staff is amazing!!!!! They go above & beyond to make sure your experience is fantastic!! The whole property is kept very clean (despite the drunkies best attempts). Alejandro, Irvin & Frank at the Mezcal bar took the utmost of care of us at the swim up bar!!!!! From day 1 they were all very attentive & appreciative, greeted us warmly & remembered not only our drink order but our names as well. Will come back to this resort for service alone!!!
