Location is perfect, situated in down town reykjavik. Which means you will be last on the tours to be dropped off at bust stop 3 outside the Hard Rock Cafe. Checking in was extremely slow . I mentioned that we requested a twin room to which I was told they had no information. It then took them one hour to provide us with a twin room. I found reception unfriendly and cold, maybe it’s a cultural thing ? But I find it extremely rude when a simple good morning or good night are responded to by a stare. For the price of the stay a warm welcome shouldn’t be hard. The room itself was okay, however the beds where low and very soft so you just sink into the bed. Which isn’t ideal for older people, the single beds may as well of been a double as they where so close together. The wardrobe door if you fully extend actually bounces off the back of the door (picture included) Breakfast was pleasant and you can request an omelette to be cooked. Only negative is staff where only engaging with certain customers asking them would they like a coffee, which was strange. So location 5/5 Staff 2/5

Upon arrival, we were advised that the hotel was “fully booked”. We were assigned a small attic space on the 5th floor with a sloped ceiling and two skylights as windows. The bathroom was tiny. There was no room for a second night table. Avoid room 514!!

We had an amazing stay at the Radisson Blu in Rekyjavik. The hotel is beautiful and perfectly positioned to see the sights in Rekyjavik; to catch tour buses from either bus stop #3 or #6, only a 3 or 5 minute walk from the hotel; and to dine out. The hotel is immaculate and has an amazing coffee shop, restaurant and gym. The room was spacious enough and had 4 beds to accommodate my 2 children, and the facilities were fantastic. The bathroom was huge, and everything was provided. There was a fantastic hair dryer (very important to be powerful for my long hair) with sockets in the bathroom, lots of toiletries including shaving products, toothbrushes and nail kits so if you forgot anything you were covered. There was also a coffee machine, kettle and all the trimmings to go with that, fresh still and sparkling water every morning and night, pillow mist sprays, and turn down service every day, they really have thought of everything. We also paid for breakfast to be included in our stay, and I'm so happy we did it was amazing! There were selections of cereals and yoghurt with all the trimmings, nuts etc. There were juices, milk, tea and coffee (even cod liver oil if you wanted it) pastries, meats, cheeses and a huge variety of fruits. There was bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, tomatoes etc and the best bit for me was the freshly cooked omelette of my choice cooked by the chef to order. It was the best omelette I have ever tasted. I can't thank the staff at the hotel enough too. They were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. They responded to emails even before we arrived in Rekyjavik quickly answering questions I had about airport transfers and room choices and provided helpful suggestions to make our stay run smoothly. When we arrived, we also received news that one of our tours had been cancelled and they provided details of other reputable tour companies to use when I couldn't reschedule. Every question we had was always met with a smile and the day staff and night staff were equally as friendly and terrific. I honestly don't have anything negative to say. I will comment on other people's reviews about the noise as there were times when the outside noise was laud but it didn't trouble us and we are early risers. There are trucks clearing and gritting the roads yes (which are needed in winter for sure), airplanes overhead and people walking back from evening entertainmemt making noise but if your enjoying your time in Rekyjavik it won't disrupt your sleep. We will definately stay again. Thanks Radisson for everything!
