The hotel accepted our booking through Expedia and did not bother to let us know that they were closing the day after our arrival date. When we arrived they told us we could not stay - at this point they had made no attempt to find alternative accommodation for us. They claimed to have 'tried' to contact us, however my email address on Expedia is up to date and there was no contact received via email or the Expedia ap. This is an expensive hotel and after two hours and a considerable amount of stress, we ended up being relocated to a lovely hotel with fewer amenities near by. This new hotel was over £300 cheaper than we had paid for our original holiday, yet no refund of the difference has been offered either by BC Portinatx or by Expedia. I am really disappointed that we were treated this way. We have stayed here on 5 occasions in the past, but will never book to stay here again. It is disgusting that a hotel is able to take a booking in May and not honour the booking or inform the guests in advance that they are closing.

We had a wonderful stay from the 8th October for one week. We went with Jet2 holidays on an all inclusive basis and we weren't disappointed! The first night we arrived quite late but dinner was still serving so we were happy we were able to eat. The first room we were allocated, I'm not going to lie, was a massive disappointment. It was tiny, cramped for space with the double bed and a pull out single. The bathroom had a weird swing door that was just frosted glass and the toilet had the water running constantly. It was nothing like the pictures or the standard we expected and I was gutted! ( Room 224 for reference). I went down to reception that evening and explained and was immediately reassured we could be moved but not until the following morning. I was happy with that as they said we were able to check the room before agreeing to move. The first nights sleep wasn't great due to all of these things but in the morning we were assured we could move by the very friendly reception staff and they organised for us to move to room 190 which was lovely. Much more modern and spacious and just like the pictures we had seen when booking the holiday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in facilitating this. The food was much better than I expected with variety each day in the food being served as well as predictable staples. This worked well for us as our 3 year old is very fussy but she was happy with what was on offer. The bread was all fresh and lots of salad and fruit on offer as well as hot food. The restaurant staff were really friendly. The food on offer at the bar was more basic but we only ate there a couple of times going to the main restaurant for most meals. Towards the end of the week the main restaurant didn't open for lunch ( I'm guessing because the hotel was very quiet as it was the end of the season). Drinks were all premium brands on the all inclusive and the band system worked well. The pools were great. They aren't heated but it was still hot enough that they were pleasant to be in. The kids water park area was sweet and the kids club and a playground are all based in the same bit. We spent most of our time at the main pool as it was by the bar for drinks and ice creams! I'm guessing because of the time of year it was quiet so we had no issues at all getting sun loungers and towels were all provided by the hotel. There is a small beach accessable only from the hotel which gets morning sun but not much in the afternoon/ evening. There isn't much sand but there is a nice bar area down there. We went a few times and the water was really clear to swim in and the sea was warm. We also took a short walk to portinatx which had two further beautifully sandy beaches close to each other. Again lovely clear water and warm to swim in with fish swimming around. There were a few bars and restaurants along the sea front too. Entertainment in the evenings I felt was the right mix. There was a kids disco every night followed by an act of some kind. We didn't really stay for that as our little girl was often too tired after the mini disco. The weather was beautiful most of the week. We had one cloudy day and one day of rain. Other than that it was 25 degrees and sunshine. The evenings were warm and the hotel was lovely and quiet so would recommend visiting at this time of year! Due to the location of the hotel the transfers were a bit longer than I would have liked and its in the countryside so be prepared for some windy mountain roads!! It was around 40-50 mins drive from the airport.

This is the first time we have done a package holiday (usually book independently and villas) so was not sure what to expect. Hotel very clean and tidy . Buffett food and set up I was a little disappointed with - feels very much like a canteen . Hot food was Luke warm and by the end of the week I was looking forward to having a meal at home that was served to me piping hot and choosing food without someone breathing down my neck want me to move on !! Good location and 5 mins walk to the most beautiful beach down in Portinatx
