We had never been to santorini, so we didn’t k kw want to expect. This hotel is just amazing, made amazing by the hard working staff. The views are spectacular from the sunrise in the morning to the fabulous sunsets at night. We arrived a little late due to aeroplane issues, yet we were greeted with the biggest welcome and 2 glasses of the local delicious wine. We ordered food in the bar, and it was prepared with speed and was very tasty. In the morning we woke up to the most amazing view of the caldera, we had a suite with a cave bedroom, and breakfast was served on our balcony. How wonderful, yoghurt with honey, toast with orange jam, coffee, pastries, sausages, bacon, fruit, it was just delicious. The room was great, very clean and cleaned everyday, bright and airy. I can’t say how good this hotel was enough. The staff were so polite, attentive and nothing was any trouble. They sorted transport for us and told where the best local restaurants were. Thank you all so much for our stay. It was out 14th wedding anniversary and it’s one we will never forget. We will be back. Andy
This hotel was just perfect for us. The staff were so attentive. Easy check in, beautiful room, gorgeous breakfast with a view. Enjoyed evening walks down to Fira, make sure you wear comfortable shoes and take a torch if dark. We will return to this fabulous hotel.
Have not long returned from a fabulously relaxing 2 week holiday on Santorini. It was everything we expected and more !! We booked and flew with TUI, I know airlines and travel agents have had a hard press this year but everything went smoothly from booking to check in to the flights and getting home. Our taxi driver called ahead to the hotel, so staff can greet you as you can’t get a vehicle near the entrances of most of the hotels in Imerovigli. The way the staff carry your cases with ease around this town is impressive, as there are many steps!! If you struggle with steps this definitely isn’t the place or resort for you and if you want to experience Santorini then Perissa and Kamari are all flat and easy to get around. Reception is about 17 steps down and the first step is very steep, there are hand rails most of the way down though. We had room 23 which was 11 steps up from reception and only 6 down from the walk way, but is many many steps down to the pool so we never went (due to recovering from a recent knee injury). The room was smaller than we expected as had booked a superior double, but also appreciate that any accommodation on the caldera side demands a much higher price. We had a couple of steps into room, bathroom big enough then a narrow space with built in wardrobe leading to bed area, we found the bed very comfortable and the linen and towels were clean, the room was cleaned daily and towels were changed daily, slippers and dressing gowns provided, we never used but saw some guests using when eating breakfast outside. We had a private balcony with a day bed and the views from there, the bed and bathroom windows were stunning. There is a safe inside the wardrobe and although I initially thought the wardrobe was small it was plenty big enough for our 2 week stay. Missed having bedside cabinets as usually put cables and books etc but there were bedside tables and also a chest of drawers. We moved the dressing gowns and slippers in the drawers, to the bathroom shelf under the sink, so we had more drawer space for clothes. There was also a hairdryer provided too. Fridge and drinks station provided, the daily bottle of water is free but wine, beer, selection of soft drinks and nibbles are all charged. We went to local supermarket and got our own beers and soft drink and when we hired a car we got supplies from Lidl. Daily breakfast was exceptional !! So much choice and can be served by the pool or room. We chose our room and there is no extra charge to have breakfast from your room, if you order any other meals from the restaurant to your room there is a €5 charge. You can order breakfast on a paper slip or by downloading an app on your phone, you have to do each persons order separately, one morning only one order was delivered as they had missed the second order but they were very apologetic and if anything I felt sorry they had to come back with the second order as the kitchen / restaurant was all the way down by the pool. Watching the lads carrying the trays up those stairs with one hand is some skill. Working in these resorts no one needs a gym membership as going up and down the resort with linen, food and cases is a work out in its self. Most days we would have a short walk after breakfast, in a different direction and then just relax and sunbathe on our private terrace. The sun wasn’t on our terrace till about 10am so was sometimes a little breezy for breakfast but just loved the view and watching the girls with the flying dresses around the town (Google Santorini flying dresses). Although I wish they were more respectful of peoples property’s and not standing on roofs of homes, hotels and churches!! We could see the different cruise liners coming in each morning, some days 4 and 5 which can go up to 7 or more in the peak months. On the days where there was only 1 or 2 was when we went to Oia and found the street not too bad but I can only imagine how busy the streets get when 6/7 cruise liners in!! Especially during the sunset. We hired a car for 3 days to explore the island and visited from top to bottom and every place in between:- Perissa, Kamari, Thera, Oia, Pygros and the lighthouse at Akrotiri. We also went on a sunset cruise, which also goes to the hot springs. We had daily stunning sunset views from our room but also enjoyed sunsets from the south of the island, we chose not to go to Oia for a sunset as felt the streets would be too crowded and restaurants with a sunset views over priced. We noticed a lot of accommodation in Oia and Imerovigli was overlooked by public footpaths so wouldn’t feel very private but ‘On the Rocks’ isn’t over looked at all. We had takeaway one night but ate in different places most nights, with varying budgets. Perissa and Kamari restaurants were noticeably cheaper to eat in than Thira, Imerovigli and Oia and add a sunset view to the restaurant and the prices are even more expensive. We found restaurants in Imerovigli got more expensive the further north we walked from the hotel. Not many places just did sandwiches or snacky food but street coffee, round the corner from the bus stop, was a gem with a very pleasant friendly lady serving. We walked to firostefani one evening and this had more variety of reasonably priced cafes mixed amongst the restaurants. There were many designer and expensive shops and boutiques mainly in Oia. We preferred the touristy shops in Perissa and Kamari for quirky gifts. Husband walked to top of Skaros rock and round down to the church and back again, the path disappears in places and the steps down don’t have rails or barriers. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much bother, from the lads who brought up breakfast, the cleaner and the reception staff (especially the one who’s from Crete, and had just been home for a wedding, sorry terrible with names) are available 24/7 and they can help with recommending restaurants or things to see and do, sorting car hire, ordering taxis etc We had to leave our room at 11am and weren’t getting picked up till 6.30pm but we were able to book the spa room for a 30min slot to shower and change. Fabulous spa area going deep into the rock and could imagine it being very relaxing but we aren’t Spa people. You can pay to keep room but only if it’s not booked up and believe there is a cost of €20 euros each hour you want to keep it on.
