Stayed 4 nights at Carlo IV on visit to Prague to celebrate our 25th ‘Silver’ wedding anniversary. The hotel is fabulous and the city itself is an amazing place to explore. We had a lovely room in the original part of the building which I believe was a former bank and you can see it retains many features. We had read many good reviews commenting on the quality of the breakfast and must agree it totally deserved the high praise. I loved the different smoothies every morning and the healthy tomato juice cocktail with the zero alcohol gin was a great touch to set us up for the day. My wife enjoyed the creamy scrambled eggs and smoked salmon whilst I always had to go for the full cooked option (being Scottish!) The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and efficient - and always offered to get your first coffee as soon as they showed you to your table. We always finished our day with a couple of hours in the Spa area - we didn’t do treatments - but relaxed in the amazing pool. There is also a really good steam room and sauna. In 4 days we comfortably covered all the main tourist attractions Prague has to offer. We highly recommend the red hop on and hop off bus (buy your ticket from the kiosk or online in advance). The castle is well worth a visit and make sure to be there at midday for Changing of the Guard - it’s a real spectacle to behold. We climbed the Petrin Tower which has brilliant views over Prague (300 steps) and had a drink at the top of the Dancing House Glass Bar - again brilliant views. We just managed to fit in a visit to the National Museum, which is the breathtaking building that overlooks Wenceslas Square. It’s not expensive and is so interesting, for me especially the story of the wartime occupation. Having done the guided tour of the Castle the day before it was so interesting to see the wartime photographs in the exhibition. Or you can just marvel at the architecture and the frescos. Thanks to all at the hotel for the warm welcome and hope we can return to see you again at some time in future.

Staying at the Carlo IV was a delightful experience from the porter welcoming us through the front door on arrival to him waving us goodbye after checking out. The walk through the entrance hall is breathtaking as you look up at the beautifully decorative ceiling. The atmosphere of grandeur continues as you enter the lobby where you find reception (who were incredibly helpful and spoke wonderful English) and most importantly the bar (excellent cocktails - particularly good mojito). Our room was well appointed and anything additional that you require is efficiently brought up if you use the concierge service accessible on your phone. The location of the hotel is a key highlight- it is on a quiet street away from any loud crowds and late night debauchery, with excellent cafes nearby and the main sights are all in walking distances (eg Old Town Square 10 minutes, Charles Bridge 20 minutes). However, the pièce de résistance of the hotel is its spa. My partner and I had an intense schedule in Prague packed with all the sight seeing, eating and drinking one could desire. The spa offered us a chance to recharge our batteries in between all this. The pool, sauna, steam room and cold plunge were all of a high standard.

Really impressed with this hotel in Prague. The building is so beautiful. Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to all the amenities and sights. The staff in the hotel were exceptional. Rooms were adequate, we got an upgrade, so were in a nice quiet room, but the noise level in the hotel was generally quiet. Spa facilities were great. Best thing was the breakfast, the choice was amazing, there was nothing that you could fault at all. Would highly recommend this hotel and great value for money too.
