A holiday in the Maldives has long been on our bucket list and we couldn't have been more delighted with our choice of Mirihi Island Resort. The welcome by the management team on our arrival by seaplane (quite an experience in itself!) was warm and friendly and the fresh coconut drink a refreshing start to our stay. Shoes come off the minute you arrive and stay off for the duration of your time on Mirihi . The resort on this pristine little gem of an island has everything one needs for a tranquil and relaxing break and there are many amenities concealed within the lush vegetation: Dive Centre, gym, yoga and meditation area, Spa and clinic. The accommodation in our Water Villa was comfortable and airy and open doors led onto the deck with loungers, umbrella, table and chairs for morning coffee's etc. The deck has stairs that lead down to the house reef and has great views over the sea. Bungalows are well maintained with the rooms being serviced in the mornings and evenings. Cuisine - world class! The buffet was simply incredible thanks to Head Chef Felix and his team. There was a different dining theme every night to tantalize our tastebuds. Incredible how they manage to provide such a varied and delicious meals situated so far away from everything! I am gluten intolerant and they went out of their way to accommodate my dietary needs, providing me with GF waffles, biscotti, breads and many other GF delicacies. There is a wine tasting room and there is a great selection of wines from around the world. The Muraka Restuarant was also superb and a great place to have a sundowner while the sharks keep you entertained under the floor of the deck. We snorkeled almost daily, weather permitting, and it was like swimming in an aquarium such was the abundance of tropical fish and many other colourful denizens of the reef. Thanks to a coral rehabilitation programme run by the resident marine biologist Lynn Kessler, the house reef is showing positive signs of recovery from the last ocean warming episode. If you are a scuba diver you will be spoilt for choice of the many dive sites in the area. I treated myself to a massage at the Spa and it was sublime, a peaceful, tranquil space and wonderful massage. My husband, a keen fisherman, went out on a Sunrise fishing trip and the fish he caught was cooked to perfection for our lunch. There are many more experiences and adventures on offer if lounging around in a hammock gets too tiring and it's safe to say you will never be bored! There is also a small boutique on hand in case one has forgotten one's sunscreen (reef friendly of course). Sarongs, beach bags, scarves and other small gift items are on offer as well. Wonderful food, white soft sandy beaches, great snorkeling and diving, friendly caring service (did I mention the food?) a relaxed "shoes - off " holiday, what more could one want? Many thanks to Carmen, Mohammed and entire team of Mirihi for a memorable holiday! We will definitely be returning :)

We have just had a wonderful barefoot, tranquil 9 idyllic nights at Mirihi to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We booked through Jo at Angelfish who is our go to travel agent for Maldive holidays. In our opinion Mirihi is the epitome of the perfect unspoilt Maldivian island. Arriving and walking along the jetty is a pinch me moment, seeing the perfect island and beautiful lagoon is quite emotional. The service is incredible, all the staff genuinely did everything they could to make our stay perfect. The food was way beyond expectations, and the full board plus package gave us everything we needed and more! Drinking sunset cocktails at Muraka, watching the sun go down and the fish jump while listening to Mohamed sing with his acoustic guitar was just so special, and something we will never forget. There is no getting away from the fact that the beach rooms are basic. They could really do with updating. Extra lighting and better storage and bathroom redesign is all that’s needed. The rooms are lovingly maintained and spotlessly cleaned every day. We had room 3 (again) which has the most beautiful secluded beachfront garden. The spa is also basic but has a stunning location and the entrance is lovely and tropical. The two spa ladies worked their magic during our massages so much that we returned three times. We would have booked more excursions, but they are eye wateringly expensive. This is the only negative we could say about the holiday. Reducing the cost would make the experience much better and allow us to do more excursions. $50 pp ++ to go to the house reef you can almost swim to is just to expensive. Ultimately, it’s the people on Mirihi that made our time so special, especially: Our room boy Shihan was the nicest and mostly friendly room boy who’s cleaning is excellent. The “egg man” aka “Maldvian Mr Bean!” was always full of joy and made fantastic egg Benedict’s for us even though they are not on the menu. Our favourite bar waiter is Sudath he was always sincere and gentle, he always made sure we were having a wonderful evening and knew our drinks after the first night. Mohamed the waiter serving sunset drinks on Muraka was always very friendly and very smiley, and again knew what we wanted after the first day. The lovely housekeeping Manager Pawan was extremely friendly and caring when we needed our power restored. He always stopped for a chat when he saw us passing. Our thanks also go to Roman for his fantastic hospitality and keeping us entertained, Roman is a real credit to the island and he has a bright future ahead in hosptality. Mirhi will forever have a very special place in our hearts, its such a perfect island....we hope it never changes.
