Guadalupe has the best pool side food! We ate his food every day for lunch. The tacos, quesadillas and hamburgers were great. Everything we tried was amazing! It’s a must try when at Mia! Everything at Mia was great. The staff were the most friendly and personable! We will be back again!!

The staff here make the place. Every single staff member was sincere and happy to please you. Lin was great and went out of way to take care of us. Yeah we tipped but we tipped everyone. I however caught a bug and was sick for 8 of the 10 days we were there. I did observe some poor food handling from bare hands of the fruit and one fella using tongs to put raw chicken on the grill, then using the sane tongs to put chicken on our plate. We didn't eat the chicken. I'm not exactly sure where I caught the bug but I didn't leave the resort. The first two days were amazing and for the rest of our group they had a great time. Once again the staff are excellent. I'm not sure if I'd go back until but nice place to go for sure. There were others getting sick like me aswell. Beautiful placd though

We just returned from a 5 day stay at Mia Reef (and then another 5 days at another location in Cancun). This was a highly anticipated vacation and I was looking forward to this stay! The positives: The location is stellar! The beach area is private and the water is exactly what you would imagine from photos of the Caribbean. The sand is soft beneath your feet and the privacy is lovely. Across the way is the pubic beach which becomes quite crowded throughout the day so having access to a private beach area was wonderful. Bar: Beach service from the bar was excellent; the drinks are definitely watered down though. I had heard of this online but had never experienced it myself until Mia - I never had a hangover nor got tipsy which I guess is a plus (trying to find the positives) Food BUFFET was mediocre at best nothing really more can be said. LAS MARIAS - this is the one 'gourmet' Mexican Restaurant. Reservations had to be made 24 hours in advance and I was only able to get in on my last evening. Having said that most of the restaurant was empty when we were there. Kimberley, our server was very attentive and her efforts to make the evening worthwhile was noted but nothing could save the evening as the quality of the meals was poor. CEVICHERIA - online you get the impression that this is a restaurant but it is little snack shack by the beach area where they have delicious fish tacos or tostadas. This was the highlight of the meals and they were fresh and delicious. The negatives: We were assigned room 5001 and paid for an Oceanview Room. We were right beside the elevator and heard every moan and groan of this aging equipment. We jokingly referred to it as the whale as it sounded like one every time it was used! The room was small and I have to say housekeeping did their best to keep it clean. The bathroom is dated (and that's being polite) it was small and the state of the shower was horrid. I cannot believe that the amount we paid for this Oceanview resulted in this room. I still shake my head. Because they are on a different type of sewer system, you cannot flush any paper and it needs to go into the trash; but the negative was that the smell of the sewer waste is so pronounced - ironically, not from the bathroom but coming from the bar fridge next to the bathroom. You opened up the door and the smell was horrid. It truly was comedic. We had a small balcony with a couple of chairs and there were wooden slats as decor or as a privacy screen; but several of the boards were loose and the banging of the wooden slats from the overnight wind would keep us awake. The building is due for an overhaul! Every day we had to get our room passes re-keyed as they were never working. Every. Day. And to top it off we were hounded by Victor who was constantly asking us to watch his 'not a timeshare - but it's really a timeshare' presentation. What can I say, I'm glad our stay was only 5 days and we could finally leave.
