For New Years Eve we booked a 5 days stay at Melia Sky with our family. With our kids we wanted to celebrate at midnight at the rooftop bar. I checked on the phone if that is possible with our kids to GO there and I got an ok. When we arrived close to midnight the rooftop Bar was closed and we stayed in the lobby with approximately 5 guests. That was a very dissapointing New Years Eve. The Management made an excuse but this special evening from us for weeks was gone

My husband and I stayed at the Melia Barcelona Sky for 3 nights after arriving from Toronto. The hotel is modern and sleek yet it felt so cozy and welcoming inside. Our room on the 17th floor was quiet with spectacular views of Barcelona. We had a king-sized bed and it was very comfortable with fine linens and pillows, ideal for sleeping off jet lag. Breakfast was included in our rate. There were plenty of options available and it was all delicious. Service at the Melia Barcelona Sky was attentive and professional.

Couldn’t really fault the hotel, staff or the food and service. Good points: Attentive staff Great upgrade options to ‘the level’ Some staff very helpful, recommending places Etc. Clean, modern and comfortable room (Can’t comment on the 4* bit, as we upgraded) Fabulous views of Barcelona (get the sea view and sleep with the curtains open) what a sight to behold at sunrise. Easy options to the main bit of the city (taxi, tube, tram, bus or straight walk) Great breakfast options (again on floor 24) - inc fizz Not so good points: All lifts require a key card to go anywhere other than the lobby. Great for security - not so if you forget your key card or have checked out early. No point having a massive tv in the room if you can’t access anything decent. It’s a good 50 minute walk to the centre or €12 in a taxi. Reception staff are either helpful or not - depends who you get. Some are over helpful and make you feel like your doing something wrong / your in the wrong hotel. (Not a problem if your a pilot - then the staff are all over you). Once you’ve checked out (but not getting picked up for a few hours, you may as well be dead to them). As I said, key card is king - and it’s discontinued the minute you checkout. Overall it’s a lovely hotel with great views in a nice area, there’s tonnes of choice for local food eateries and drinks. Close to the beach and a stunning building. I’m sure there’s many other great hotels that are centrally located equally nice. And to be fair - they did leave a bottle of fizz and some cake in my room when they realised it was my birthday! I would deffo go back. But i might also equally want to try something more traditional
