Melia Bali

So we arrived in Meliá bali after a week in the Maya Ubud and at first were a little disappointed purely because you could not find 2 hotels more different. Meliá is a large busy hotel with lots of noise and activity whilst Maya is a quiet smaller property altogether. It took us some time to come around but eventually found Meliá to be a really nice hotel with lots of good facilities a reasonably good shallow beach ideal for children and some excellent restaurants for evening meals particularly Sakura (Japanese) and Sorrento (Mediterranean). The rooms are good although a bit on the small size and certainly lacking in power points although the beds are comfortable and huge. The grounds are extensive and really well kept and the coffee shop is an added bonus serving really good coffee and cake throughout the day. Unfortunately along with these positives come a number of negatives - the breakfast in El Patio restaurant is probably the worse I have ever experienced in any hotel around the world - it is poorly laid out, cold piles of pre cooked fried eggs, poor selection and really terrible service. The poor service is also a general theme throughout the resort from beach waiters never responding to bells to restaurant staff not returning after taking orders. Now the hotel I know is due to close for I believe up to a year for extensive refurbishment and I hope that some of the negatives I have highlighted are planned to be incorporated into their plans.

Amazing family friendly stay at Melia. The whole setup from rooms to facilities to staff are to make a family holiday as enjoyable as possible. Family friendly rooms, marshmallow nights, movie nights, kids rooms next to the breakfast buffet. Special mention to the kids club and staff there - Dani, Acik, Sasih, Tya and Angel for looking after our two girls so well!!!!

We stayed in the lagoon access room at the Melia Bali. It was part of a tour around Bali on holiday. We stayed for 4 nights and it was pure luxury. The hotel is immaculate. There’s almost always someone cleaning/gardening. The staff are so friendly and helpful. There are 5 restaurants on the resort. We tried the Japanese and the one call the patio right on the sea front. The Japanese restaurant was so good but I wouldn’t rush to the patio again. We had the sea bass fillet and the lamb satay which came to £38. It was hardly anything and we’ve had better meals elsewhere for a lot less. It was nice being on the sea front though. The lagoon access rooms are worth it if you’re a couple or want some peace and quiet. It can get quite noisy around the main pool but it’s got a good atmosphere if you like that. We also attended the spa which was also really good. Overall we had a great stay and it was a welcome escape after a couple of really busy days doing excursions. It was luxurious, relaxing and super clean.
