Medhufushi Island Resort

Stay 11/2018 (at the moment it was rated as a 5 star resort), hope it is better now. I'm very sorry for the low rating, I don't feel comfortable writing it, and even more so because I'm writing it backwards. I noticed that the resort is no longer rated as 5 stars and I also see that the latest reviews are also nice, so I believe that the quality is different than when we visited the hotel. I'll start with what we liked the most. Accommodation: after an unsuccessful arrival and accommodation in the beach villa, we got a free upgrade to the water villa (so it was valid only on the third attempt), which was newly renovated and really very very nice. We were extremely happy that we were accommodated in this way, because the whole stay we did not feel like going out to the island at all and we mainly spent our time there. The solution to the bathroom was original, where the wall between it and the bedroom could be moved away and you could look at the ocean from the bathtub. We were very satisfied with it. All inclusive: the food selection was small, but since there weren't many people on the island and the food was delicious, it didn't matter. It was a buffet. There was no wine selection, the cocktails were drinkable. The minibar was not included in the price. Arrival: unfortunately, everything was wrong here. The resort is quite far from the airport and is not surrounded by other hotels, so traffic there is quite difficult. We waited for about 7 hours in a busy terminal after a 15-hour flight from Prague without any information from the hotel. At that time, the resort was still rated in the 5-star category, during our last vacation in the Maldives, we stayed in the resort a category lower and waited for the seaplane for about 40 minutes in a private lounge with refreshments. After a tiring wait, we set off to the island, which was surrounded by local islands, unfortunately from the seaplane you could already see the huge mess that surrounded these islands, they had barricades built around the island and plastic and an incredible amount of garbage was lying in them, all built apparently because to keep the trash from floating to the resort, which didn't work very well. I understand that the resort cannot control this, but it is not pleasant. The hotel itself looked horrible, it was falling apart, and I swear that during our conversation with the manager, a piece of the railing came off the terrace and fell into the water :D well, we didn't laugh much then. We discussed the whole situation, and we were offered an upgrade from the beach villa to the water villa for the next day, we agreed and are grateful for it, because the water villa was the only thing we really liked, and we would probably look for accommodation solutions somewhere else with the travel agency. The beach villa was old, smelly, the beach in front of it was dirty. Luckily, we were only there one night. On the first day there were plastic bottles lying on the beach, just out of curiosity we went to look there the day before the flight, and they were still lying there... I hope they were some other ones, and it wasn't true that no one cleaned them there for a week. Island and service: sea grass grows in the water around the island, this may or may not bother someone, you can read this in advance from the reviews and consider the choice of accommodation accordingly. The fact that the grass is there is not something the hotel can control, but the mess the grass makes on the beach can. Again I remember the last resort, where we got up one morning around 4 o'clock to see the sunrise and we were surprised to see that the island is teeming with people who work to make the island beautiful and clean in the morning. Then one more experience, on the way from lunch a young guy from the staff in a green uniform caught us and said: "I am very poor, give me some money". I want to mention again that the stay was a few years ago, I hope a lot has changed. I retrospectively evaluate all the resorts we visited, and it wouldn't be fair to those who are trying to work well not to write this one.

We have recently come back from Medhufushi Island Resort and was very disappointed. Firstly, the staff did not inform us at check in, that we had 3 excursions included in our package. It was only when another hotel guest told us, so we went and enquired. Then when we asked if we could change one of our excursions, they were not accommodating at all. Secondly, the staff are not very friendly and accommodating especially as we are vegetarian. We would strongly not recommend this resort to anyone.

A nice & cozy place for couples to relax and enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of city, nice rooms and liked beach villa the most beautiful experience. Celebrated my 25 th anniversary at this location was the perfect choice
