Requested early check-in when I booked. Arrived at 1pm, they said it would be ready soon. Three hours later, at 4pm, the room was ready. They could just say they aren’t able to honor the early check in and I could’ve made plans to do something in those three hours. I was offered no water, drink etc. from the front desk. Instead, I went to the courtyard restaurant to grab something to eat. The turkey BLTG is not actually a turkey sandwich as it’s described on the menu but a turkey burger. (It’s on both the lunch and dinner menu, where the lunch menu describes a sandwich and dinner menu describes a burger. You should probably fix that.) The server was kind and friendly. Housekeeping never made the bed or did anything besides replenish towels which was odd. I don’t need a full room cleaning but making the bed seems standard, and most days we were out of the room from 10am to 10pm. Overall the location is great in West Hollywood. A new Great White location opened up just around the corner, coffee and shopping nearby. Craig’s and Olivetta across the street too. It wasn’t quite up to the Kimpton standard that my sister and I have experienced before in Austin or Philly, it was overall average.
Save yourself the headache and stay elsewhere. I stayed here using my AMEX points which also provides daily breakfast and a food and beverage credit. Upon checkout, my folio did not include a breakdown of my food and beverage charges and it was explained to me that was because I had not exceeded the credit. Long story short, food charges were added to my bill after I left. After MULTIPLE communications, the hotel was still unable to provide me with my restaurant receipts upon request. Finally after several weeks, I now have to dispute the charges with AMEX. What a waste of time for everyone involved and a lost client going forward. I have always loved Kimpton properties, not this one. This location should not be in the Amex Fine Hotels collection.
We arrived at the hotel really excited as it was our first time visiting LA. Since we arrived late at night and there was nothing to eat we went directly to sleep almost without unpacking. In general, the hotel was clean and tasteful while the staff where kind and attentive as one would expect from a hotel of such caliber. The problem became apparent during our departure when we discovered that one of our luggages had a broken handle which hadn’t been reported to us by the staff. Normally it would not be such a big deal if it weren’t for the profoundly unprofessional way they treated the matter. The receptionist apologized and advised us to send in an email with a picture of the damage so that they could investigate accordingly and compensate us. However, we never heard back from them ever again. Several attempts where made from our side always receiving the same answer: “The manager is currently not here and the matter will be investigated and you’ll be contacted”. After a couple of attempts and without having received any answers, we contacted once again in a slightly more direct manner and demanded we be taken seriously. Unfortunately all we got was a rude, unprofessional and borderline disrespectful answer that the investigation is closed and nothing could be done. I fully understand that accidents do happen at work and that was the reason I was so relaxed at first. What I am definitely not okay with is the complete ignorance and negligence from the hotel’s side of our issue and total unwillingness to assist or compromise.
