Absolutely beautiful trip! We went for a week 23rd Sept- 1st October and had the most amazing time. The scenery is beautiful, 3 pools as well as the stunning beach area. There is plenty of sun beds at all pools. The views are amazing. The staff are all so happy and lovely can not do enough for you. The rooms were spacious, I do agree with some of the reviews that the bathrooms could do with a slight update. The cleaners came everyday and cleaned our room and gave us fresh bedding, even noticed how we were changing the bedding for our comfort and started doing so, lovely little touches. The resort was lovely, the food was great quality. The resort is far from the airport but if you want a lovely relaxing break it’s a great spot!

We booked through loveholidays and the shuttle bus took us over 3 hours to get to Kalypso from the airport! We landed at 11pm or so and got to the hotel at 4am! We got a shuttle bus half way and a taxi for the rest, I would advise trying to get a private hire car for the transfer there and back. So the hotel! Beautiful location, stunning! They have 3 pools, 3 bars, a tennis court and snorkelling etc. The service: the staff are kind and attentive and they’re very friendly. However I’m surprised you have to request a cleaning service and they come at very odd times of the day so just be mindful of that. Elina on reception is a wonderful person, she’s very attentive and kind and helpful, the staff all around are very welcoming. The rooms: I read before coming that there’s no wifi in the rooms, so we bought unlimited data to watch movies at night in our room or while we get ready however there’s NO SIGNAL at all either. The views of the sea are gorgeous and the rooms are very pretty, they’re vintage looking, the AC is temperamental and you do not get tea and coffee, a kettle or an iron in your room, (you can get a kettle or iron on request but not for your whole stay) these basics you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The rooms could be cleaner however I’ll put this down to coastal erosion maybe? Cleanliness: there were blood stains on the curtains around the bed, men’s hairs behind the tap of the sink, when I asked them to clean my room I think they only made the bed as there was still one of my hairs in the bathtub, they don’t replace your old towels or clean the surfaces or floor from what I can tell, they also do not replace your toilet roll. I ended up just cleaning myself during the rest of my stay and making the bed etc. The location: although it’s scenic and beautiful, it is soooo far away from anything, there’s no food delivery ( I will get to that in more detail) there’s a mini market on site which is expensive and opens at very random times during the day and it is too far for buses and taxis to go so you can only really book excursions and activities with the hotel unless you choose to hire a car (the roads are very narrow and the driving is crazy, so for our own safety we chose not to). Also the service is really bad everywhere. The food: for an all inclusive I am very disappointed, no tea and coffee in the rooms and for breakfast, lunch and dinner there aren’t many options at all, it’s all the same all the time and this is why we were upset that we couldn’t even get a Deliveroo or anything. No halal options and the vegetarian options are not very nice at all unless you’re okay with eating salad for every single meal, they also do not label the veg options or what things are. We spoke to a lot of other guests who ate meat and they didn’t like the food at all either as it was always undercooked. There’s an area called Plakias 10 mins away which is €8 one way which has a lot of different restaurants, bars and taverns. They have evening entertainment some nights which is brilliant! So much fun and also Honestly, because of how kind the staff are and how beautiful the location is, the negatives were not something we dwelled on, we booked excursions through the hotel and they were fun and we managed to get some bits from outside to eat. I just feel because it’s so far, all inclusive is the only way to go because you don’t want to drive out every night to get food to come back. This is more of a relax, read, tan and eat mediocre food type place. I think if someone were to invest in this resort, get connections and good prices with taxis and they had more options for food and at least mobile network in the rooms it would be worthy of a 4* One key thing which is an easy change is to label the food when it’s out so people know what they can and cannot eat (dietary requirements). Other than these things it’s beautiful with lovely people and we met some amazing guests on our stay! Overall I’d give our stay in Crete a 6/10. I hope this was helpful.

Our experience of this hotel was very disappointing to say the least. The rooms are dated and our daughters room was absolutely disgusting, black mould covered the bathroom ceiling entering into the kitchen area and the kitchen units were visibly damp. the smell of the room was awful and damp, this was particularly upsetting as one of my daughters has asthma. the bathroom was infested with flies. this problem was brought to the attention of the manager who stated there must have been a leak? my reply was that black mould takes a while to grow and why were my daughters put in this room i would have expected housekeeping to have reported this. we also went to reception to report a dead scorpion in the kitchen light fitting. in general the hotel was in need of a good clean the pool was dirty with moss growing in the sides of the pool. we witnessed a manager? shouting at the pool person to clean the pool. some staff were quite rude especially the bar man, this was also reported, we were all inclusive and no diet drinks were available i asked what i could drink and staff said water. food was repetitive same for lunch as dinner. Staff were served before guests and and if you wanted a diet coke you were asked for 4 euros, along with milkshakes or lattes. there was no entertainment apparently it was on at 10pm on one evening whilst the all inclusive bar ended at 10.30pm. there was one member of staff serving the pool bar from 10.30am till 6pm and one person serving the main bar from 6pm til late. if you didnt order your drinks all at once he was quite abrupt and would serve the next person before finishing your order or if a member of staff came to the bar he would serve them first. We paid a lot of money for a special family holiday celebrating a birthday and will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. the area is beautiful but the hotel leaves a lot to be desired 4star rating it isnt im afraid.
