My girlfriend Rosie and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and she picked for us to visit the hotel Amstel's restaurant for dinner. Even though we were not fortunate enough to be staying at this fantastic hotel, from the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost courtesy by every member of staff we interacted with and were made to feel incredibly special. From the doorman who gave us the best welcome imaginable (I have the misfortune of not remembering his name, but he was working at 5pm on 13th Feb when we arrived) and who later followed us out if the hotel to redirect us should we want to smoke on their designated balcony as opposed to out the front of the hotel. The receptionist who showed us to the restaurant was an utter credit to the intercontinental team. Her beaming smile and welcoming demeanor just set the mood for the evening that only got better and better. (Again I'd love to say that her name was Sasha, but if I am misremembering it may be the champagne I imbibed but she was working the same shift on the 13th of February and I asked her name on the way out) And now for the actual restaurant, my goodness did it not disappoint. The opulent luxury we walked into was incredible, and not only were we greeted promptly with warm smiles but we were even offered a selection of tables for the best experience possible. Naturally we opted to sit by the windows and look out over the river Amstel as the sun set. I would love to have taken names of everyone who worked out table that evening, but sufficed is to say that from the food runners who delivered our food, the waiters who took our order and the gentleman who I assume is the Maitre D/ manager (who again I want to say is David) everyone just made us feel so special the whole night. From taking the time to explain in detail each and every dish that was brought to the table, to accomodating our every requests (such as having champagne from our wine glasses as opposed to a flute). It has my experience in the past when dealing with high end dining often times, the chefs/ bartenders have little give or sway about how they want their dishes) drinks presented, but here our every request was catered for above and beyond. We were so drawn to every single starter that we forwent main courses to just sample every starter on the menu. And what a fantastic choice. The buratta so creamy, the heritage tomatoes so sharp so as to cut the fatty richness. The Boullabais was the perfect blend of luxurious and delicate. The Mackrel ceviche my god was an utter highlight. So tender and the sauce beneath, everything about that dish was just incredible. And then came the Steak Tartare, and not only did they save the best for last for us, but the chefs actually prepared a second portion for us so as to bring our night to an absolutely stellar ending. The egg yolk, divine and jammy, the seasoning perfect (although I personally could have had it a touch more spicy that is entirely down to my preference), and that potato crisp. If I could only know how the hell they did that! Table maintenance was incredible, no detail was missed and every attention was made to maximise the space available despite our multiple dishes on the table at once I could go on and on, but I'll simply end to say each and every member of the restaurant team (the chefs included) are an utter credit to the hospitality industry and ALL deserve commendation for the incredible work they do. 100000% would recommend/ come back. 565 out of 10!!
The staff go out their way to make sure you are comfortable. And that you are happy with everything. Special thank you to Leonardo, Lara and Pauline. The Sauna and steam room facilities are brand new, and very relaxing. If you are looking to stay outside the busy hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, Hoofddorp is the place to be, and the Inter City Hotel!
this is one of the best experiences we got. we were recommended by our friends to go to Amstel A-bar. as they had a wonderful time view weeks ago. told us to be surprised by the bar staff; they are pretty good ad tailored cocktails. My husband and I are picky drinkers and not hard to please at all. my god, we were served by the bar manager Soram. this guy made drinks from my childhood just in memory and taste. out-of-the-world experience. the truffle old fashioned was to die for and the mezcal negroni was on the next level. at the start alone what a view . we were meant to stay for a view drinks and go over to my friend bus asked them to come over here and enjoyed drinks and bites here. and every time a different drink. amazing 100% recommend !!!! thank you soram & zayn what a time!!!
