Excellent time again at this hotel. Entertainment through the day and night. Activities - childrens club, yoga, Pilates, bingo, archery etc. All inclusive-drinks superb, top quality and self serve on wines, beers. A very good choice of Food. Second time here and won’t be out last.
When we arrived late at the hotel our bus dropped us off on a main road away from the hotel, which with three young children, limited directions and a driver who didn’t even want to wait for us to get our luggage off the bus isn’t ideal. We checked in quickly and easily but found we were on the 9th floor and neither door to the tiny balconies in our interconnecting rooms had locks. With a 2, 6 and 9 year old this was terrifying and we had to put chairs against the doors and keep the curtains closed in case they became inquisitive. Thankfully they were able to move us to the 3rd floor after 3 days but under no circumstances should a family with young children be placed that high up. Multi-locks out of reach from children should also be added to the doors and my advice to those visiting with young children is to request a low floor ahead of arrival. This feels like a tragedy waiting to happen. The rooms are good, they’re not luxury - no where in the hotel is a but they of a very good standard. A lick of and some better carpets would definitely improve the ageing look of the corridors leading to the rooms. There’s 3 lifts, so you’re never waiting but the doors don’t stay open long so you’ve gotta be quick, especially if you’ve got kids. The reception staff are lovely, polite and helpful. We did have an issue with our towel deposit not being returned due to them being put against the wrong room. At 100 euros for x5 towels I’d say it’s not worth the risk and to bring your own or buy some when you’re there. Thankfully they were able to identify the issue and were extremely apologetic and transferred the money in full soon after we left. The bar staff are great and the drink options are generous. It’s Mahou on tap, freshly made mojitos (not from a mix) good quality wines and soft drinks with no small cup silliness. There’s only one bar in the main area (and another smaller one in reception) but it’s well manned and even if there’s a queue it goes down quick, as does the booze. The restaurant can get busy but is very good, with an excellent variety and in a week we never got bored. The guests were polite and patient, with only one old dude getting a bit aggressive. The restaurant staff are busy and not all are as friendly here, with one person being particularly rude. It’s not cheap bringing a family here and it’s not acceptable to have unpleasant staff. I mentioned this in passing to reception and they sent up a plate of fresh pastries and fruit with an apology, which was a nice touch. You can eat all day at the Las Dalias. When breakfast finishes at 10am the snack bar opens and stays open until the evening meals starts. There’s not a huge variety compared to the restaurant but it’s good enough that sometimes we skipped the main lunch. There’s no a la carte restaurant, which is a shame and limits the hotel, as does only having one main bar but neither felt like much of an issue. There’s a cold meats and cheese buffet at 11pm which is excellent if you arrive late or get hungry after the evening’s entertainment. They’ve also changed the rule about men not wearing shorts, shame I didn’t know this before packing. The animation team are excellent and really make the place. They’re confident, talented, friendly and lots of fun. The kids club is very limited and amounts to one basic activity a day. This not the kind of place you can leave your kids creche style. The evening entertainment is great fun, with at least 50% of the shows featuring the animation team. We definitely enjoyed our nights there and the kids loved it. The pools are decent. There’s no slides which would have been good but they’re still good fun, especially when there’s an activity. The smaller kids pool at 1.5m is too deep, so you need to keep your eyes on your weak and non-swimmers, which results in lots of kids playing on the steps. There is a small paddling pool for very little ones. One big plus is balls and inflatables are allowed. We also found the life guards to be on watch but don’t interfere and I didn’t hear anyone get told off, unlike at other hotels. The site has a small kids play park. Unfortunately all three of my kids hurt themselves the first time they used it and some of the equipment wasn’t especially stable, so they didn’t let them use it again. Another unsafe area of the hotel that should be addressed. The hotel had a number of young kids but it did seem to be mainly older parents with their teenage and twenty-somethings. This was fine and our children still made some good friends. A plus point is the wifi is excellent. It’s fast, reliable and stable and by far the best wifi I’ve used at a hotel. The location is slightly off the beaten track but not too far from anywhere. The nearest beach is quite small but only 15mins away. Within a 15-20minute walk you can be at Playa Da Finabe, Playa Das Americas or Siam Park. Top tip for Siam Park - get tickets that include a free burger as food isn’t cheap there. Get to the park for 9am and buy fast passes which are essential. The water shoes are also worth buying. Get there for 10am and the fast passes will be in limited supply leaving you with queues of up to 2hrs per ride. Overall the Las Dalias a very good hotel. Those looking for luxury may want to go elsewhere. The all inclusive options are excellent. Apart from a few bad eggs the staff are fantastic. There were a few things that marred our stay, finding a cockroach in my shorts up on the 9th after leaving them on the floor was a bit of shock but that’s Tenerife, the b*stards fly. The hotel is incredibly clean, with a constant supply of mostly clean cups (you do have hunt a bit), tidy rooms and spotless communal areas. I’d probably try a different location as we don’t tend to go to the same place twice but I will consider another Iberostar, as with small kids and such a decent all inclusive it makes it so much easier.
Arrived about 11pm and received a warm welcome and informed that a buffet supper was provided for us in the dining room. Very nice as we weren’t expecting anything. Our room was overlooking the pool area where the evening entertainment took place. Yes it was noisy but didn’t bother us as we were usually sat down there or still awake anyway. The beds were comfortable, the room clean, all toiletries provided and towels changed every day if you wanted. Iron and ironing board available to hire but I’m unsure how much. No kettle in the room but there was a fridge and hairdryer. Two pools. Adults only and the larger one for families at 1.5m deep. Pool towels are available but there is a charge (€20 I think) which is reimbursed at the end of your stay. Be aware though that most of the sunbeds had gone before 8.30!! The entertainment was very good both during the day and of an evening and once a week there is a late night pool party where you can enjoy a swim. The drinks for AI guests were very good and you could get as many alcoholic drinks as you liked (not like in some other hotels where you are limited to one drink per wristband) and you can help yourself to soda drinks and also ice creams around the pool. The restaurant food was really good and plentiful and there had theme nights i.e seafood, sushi, Mexican etc. Snacks were available throughout the day around the pool too. We never struggled for a table. The hotel is on a hill and the coach dropped us off at the bottom of the road from where we had to drag our cases up so note this if you are not as able. Bars, restaurants and shops are very close by and the beach probably 10/15 walk down the hill. Busses run from the bottom road and are relatively cheap. All in all we had a thoroughly good holiday and would definitely consider staying here again.
