Iberostar Grand El Mirador

This is our first time in Tenerife and it could not have been better. We spent a lot of time doing our homework looking at various places to stay for our silver wedding anniversary break and the hotel, welcome and service certainly exceeded all of our expectations. The photos on the website are in no way exaggerated - it really is that lovely. Absolutely everyone we came into contact with could not do more for us, from the receptionist who checked us in, offering us a glass of cava, to the gentlemen helping with luggage, the housekeeping staff, restaurant and bar staff and the team helping with the sun loungers etc. Everyone always had a smile and were so friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. Unfortunately it is impossible to remember everyone’s name, however, a very special thank you has to go to Tiziana, the assistant manager. When she was aware that it was our silver wedding anniversary, she upgraded us to the El Cenador restaurant for breakfast and on return to our room later in the afternoon had arranged for chocolate cake and a bottle of cava surrounded by rose petals to be left there. It’s these touches which made a very special time even more special and memorable. We stayed on a half board basis and were so pleased that we did as we were amazed at the quality of the food, both at breakfast and for the evening meal. We had a sea view room on the fourth floor giving great views of the amazing sunsets. We also met some lovely guests (sorry, didn’t get those names either) staying at the hotel who gave us advice on places to go in the area and helped us settle in with the surroundings of the hotel. We just cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - it is without doubt the best we have ever stayed in and hope to return in the future.

Our second stay at this beautiful hotel, and it won't be our last. Not only is it stunningly beautiful but it is perfectly run. This hotel entices with the beautiful photographs and the reality does not disappoint. It must be unique in not having an enclosed corridor with rooms off both sides as it is partly outdoor and at the back facing the mountains so that virtually all the suites face the sea with fabulous views. The huge outdoor pool was much warmer than a year ago. Perhaps the only criticism is that the excellent and varied evening entertainment can be a bit louder than necessary. It would be invidious to single out even one member of staff for praise as they are ALL welcoming, courteous, pleasant and have a sense of humour - from reception, management, restaurant, bar, housekeeping, to even the grounds and maintenace staff. We could not contemplate staying anywhere else in the Canaries.

My wife and I have enjoyed stays at this wonderful hotel for the past ten years and every year it just gets better and better. Which is almost impossible to do after all, how can you improve on perfection! All of the staff are amazing and it would be unfair of me to single anyone out in particular, suffice it to say that everyone you meet greets you with a genuine smile and is only to happy to be of service. Our only regret is that it will be another year until our return.
