The perfect place for families. We stayed All Inclusive and our party of 7 have no complaints about the food. It was always delicious, always fresh and plenty of variety. Omelettes cooked to order for breakfast. Freshly cooked pancakes for breakfast. The pool was cold (freezing) but we did manage to get in it eventually but we stayed the last week of October. The weather was gorgeous, in fact we fan out of suntan lotion because we didn't think we would need it that often but we needed it every day. The hotel staff cannot be faulted. Friendly, helpful, and they all seemed happy to work at the hotel. The hotel is not a chain, it's been independently owned for about 15 years and I think the owner treats his staff well. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for any of them. The gardens are beautiful, well maintained and make the whole hotel look magnificent. So much better than a concrete jungle, much prefer seeing native plants flowering in abundance. The beach is right beside the hotel, 30 seconds walk from the pool. There is a pebbly bit so beach shoes or flip flops will help get over this bit into the sea where there is plenty of sand. There is some sand on the beach but I wouldn't say it was a bucket and spade kind of beach. There are beaches like this in Crete - we drove past them on the bus going both to Chania and Rethymno. The hotel was clean. It is a little bit tired but for the money we paid it was perfect. We had a terrace with table and chairs and our room was spacious. The bathroom could do with a refurb but it was functional. Expect functional and you'll be happy when you arrive. An excellent power shower and always hot water. What else do you need? Visit Chania (45 minutes on the bus) and Rethymno (15 minutes on the bus). Both towns offer something different and both are well worth a visit. The bus stop is no more than a 10 min walk from the hotel but when you return make sure you know where to get off (I think you need Dharmia bus stop but check with reception). All in all a wonderful family holiday in a lovely location made perfect by the staff.

Arrived around 4am and been greeted by Anthony who was lovely and very friendly. Hotel informed that we would have some food in our rooms as flight was delayed and we were quite hungry when we finally arrived. What we had was a plate containing 2 “sandwiches” which was made of 2 slices of bread with lettuce and cucumber inside without any butter/spread, and an apple. We upgraded our room to one with a private pool that back then we thought was a great idea (we wanted to enjoy the pool as much as possible). In reality pool was freezing cold and unusable, and none of hotel pools were heated. Our room had a funny (like an old house smell) when we arrived, but the worst was to happen the next morning, when we woke up to a nasty strong smell of sewage that lingered around the room and outside our block of rooms. It was so nasty that made me sick and ruined our breakfast. I went to reception to ask if we could be moved to another room as I noticed that the smell was not as bad near reception and the lady in reception was very unhelpful and dismissive, she just said that smell was everywhere, that workers were already informed to stop whatever they were doing that was causing the place to stink and that was nothing she could do. Bad odour did go away eventually but the experience was really bad. Rooms are old fashioned and mattress very hard and uncomfortable. Even though we had paid our stay at hydramis for the duration of our holiday, we decided to visit the next door resort (La Mer) and pay for a room there. It was a completely different experience, we were really impressed with the cleanliness of the place, their modern rooms, exclusive facilities and pleasant, feel good environment. I must say that hydramis staff (apart from one lady at reception) are really nice. Maria is lovely and so kind and Anthony and Dali are also 5 stars. We had to check out early on our last day and our flight was late at night. Lady from reception called our room and informed we would need to pay extra if we wanted to delay our check out for a few hours. When we told her that our shuttle bus would not leave until 8:30pm she replied that it was not her problem, we should have checked the papers for check out times.
