Nothing to show.
We were very surprised at how busy Florence was during October with so many people of which we were two. Loads of groups everywhere so difficult to visit museums or places of interest. The hotel was very busy but excellent service . Meals were outstanding and the cost reflected the hotel and all it had to offer. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff as you would expect. Room was great although our view was limited by the building opposite the hotel. This did not however detract from the lovely room and such attentive staff.
Pros Location. Florence is very walkable, but this hotel is very central to the big sights. You can walk to most places you would want to go to, and there is a taxi stand right outside. The staff will help you get the taxi too. Hotel Staff. Everyone was very welcoming. Check-in and checkout were very fast and easy. They were willing to help with reservations and sightseeing recommendations. Housekeeping staff. Also, very friendly. Efficient. Roomservice. Quick. Breakfast. Service was very very nice. Small Buffett with cereals, cheese, meats fruit. The a la cart menu with eggs, pancakes, etc. had a very good selection. However, the daily cook on the eggs was a bit inconsistent during our stay. The breakfast area is also the hotel's restaurant, Irene. It has a nice outdoor space on the street. It's nice for drinks and a bite to eat whilst people watching. We did not have dinner there. Con The bathrooms look a bit dated. It's also small. When the door is open, the hanging robes touch the toilet. The toilet flush is a button on a wall that takes a bit of effort. Not a lot of counter space. There is a bidet. The shower is in the tub. There is a rain shower head fixture as well as a hand held faucet. The water pressure is good. Nice closet space. No in room kettle for tea, no Nespresso/coffee machine in room. The hotel will bring you tea kettle or coffee in the mornings if you order them. Some people went down to breakfast area to take coffee back to room in to go cups. The lobby has some seating area, but it was not a large lobby where one can relax or people watch. Overall a nice hotel. But I didn't quite get the 5 star experience.
We stayed in two rooms. The first night in a premium room #204 was nice but it faces directly into the building across the street, so we often had to close the shutters. The second room was a deluxe junior suite #402 that was beautiful inside with a view of the roof across the street. If the view is important to you then inquire with the hotel, we accepted this because of the excellent location. Everything at Savoy was perfect “a well oiled machine” as they say. We enjoyed a breakfast delivery ever morning that was delicious. Dinner at Irene is very good, the menu is diverse and the team is first class . Hotel Savoy is our go to for a visit to Florence, there is no need to look anywhere else. Highly Recommended!
