My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel Excelsior Lido on our honeymoon. We loved every moment at this hotel. The hotel has exceptionally high ceilings and feel extra spacious. Upon arrival in our room, the hotel had set out chocolates and champagne for us. Concierge arranged a complimentary boat ride to Murano and a tour of a glass factory. The breakfasts were exceptionally good. Bed was very comfortable. Getting to and from Venice proper was easy and fun on their private water taxi. I've stayed at some very nice hotels before, and confidently call this a 5 star resort. Would love to stay again next time in town.

I have a photo of my father from 1945 that was taken at a hotel on the Venice Lido. He was stationed here, a mere private in the British Army, a veteran of the Italian campaign! My father has long since passed but I remember him telling me that it was the place that film stars stayed. He had been asked to stay on after the war finished to help with the post war clear up. I had often wondered where this hotel was, and how great it would be to find it. Having no idea where to start looking my husband and I visited the Lido during a 24 hour stop over in Venice. I never really expected to find the hotel but a short walk along the beach brought me to the unmistakable facade of what I now know to be The Excelsior! 2 tourists with an old black and white photo were welcomed with such warmth and grace as the film stars that I know really do stay here! I cannot express the wonder, excitement and emotion of finding this hotel...and what a hotel. We ate delicious pizza and salad on the terrace, drank a toast to my father, admired the fabulous photos that adorn the bar and reception area and discussed films, directors and actors with the charming staff especially one young man who I know was not called Massimo but something similar. Thank you again to you all for such a warm and generous welcome. I hope to be back at some point to feel close to my dad and to enjoy the delightful ambience and food.

An absolutely amazing resort a short boat ride away from San Marco but sadly it’s lacking TLC. A very expensive hotel that has lots of facilities and from outside looks amazing. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Sadly our room was not 5 star and really needs upgrading. I expect better from such a hotel.
