Hotel Botanico & The Oriental Spa Garden

Stayed there for a week in an Ambassador Suite . Lovely room with a view of the sea . Hotel buildings surrounded by splendid gardens and on one side there is a very wonderful well equipped and comprehensive spa . Generally the attitude of staff is very constructive but the hotel was very full . Attending the breakfast buffet resembled the movement of people on a major railway station going at pace this way and that and hardly the challenge one needs first thing . Fortunately the food and range of options at breakfast was huge and good quality . Not so the other restaurants . The Italian is a poor replica with astoundingly bad food and service service ( like 30 minutes to take your order and then 45 minutes to deliver a starter which was thus cold ) . Don't have minestrone soup as it bears no resemblance to the name nor a soup !Even complaining took ages with no-one taking any responsibility . The overall impression of the hotel was that, whereas the more junior staff were fabulously friendly , management had abdicated and had reduced staff numbers far too much over the pandemic . They have forgotten about the customer who is paying top dollar and not expecting for example 15 euros per person to have a putt on the putting green .The comparison with a hotel in Asia is very marked .

Great hotel. Staff very attentive. Spa is great and free. It has 5 different sorts of sauna. We have been here before and when we came back we got a better room and fruit to the room. Toni in the reception is very good. We also went to some of the tastings in the lobby at 18.00. Very good. Breakfast 5 star. gardens beautiful. Only downside is that the rooms are a bit tired. We will be back.

The warm hospitality and spa experience is exquisite unlike what I have experienced in Europe so far. Sincere appreciation to the crew of Botanico, you all know how to be warm, hospitable and make a guest feel so welcome and special. The entire staff know you by name. Thanks Lorena for being so patient at check in and willing to answer questions, to the smiling, helpful valet at the door, to Shirly for being gracious, to Santiago, the fantastic maitre^d who took care to make sure I get great vegetarian dishes, to Sergio and Candeleria for being excellent hosts at the restaurants. The sea view room was very well appointed and plush - very comfortable beds, wonderful turn down service, never seen before tea selection in the room, and plenty of amenities. The hotel itself is gorgeous and had old world charm which I love. Expansive spread at breakfast. The spa is out of the world! I have never had such a relaxing massage (out of South East Asia) and a great therapist who helped with great tips to good health. It is also close to many restaurants and has a shuttle service to the center of the mini-town. I have only but appreciation for this hidden, exquisite gem. Highly recommended for its luxury, indulgent spa experience and warm (almost Asian-style) hospitality.
