Hotel Amagatay Menorca

We loved the stunning rooms and gardens, beautiful pool area, charming staff, amazing breakfast buffet, delicious lunches and dinner. The staff were very friendly & welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Some friends came to join us for lunch & also loved it.

This maybe a signature hotel, but there is nothing signature about the restaurant. Not really sure how it can say it is renowned! The service was poor Advised that there was a ‘taster’ menu by Jesus but then our waitress said it was not available at this restaurant. There was no designated waitress for the duration of our meal. Wines glasses were placed on the table not in the correct position and we were expected to refill our own wine! The menu certainly follows the less is more principle but it is certainly not providing all locally sourced ingredients. There are many good quality wines I available in Menorca yet options were limited. The GF roll was pre-wrapped by an external company and certainly not made in Menorca. It had been microwaved…..unfortunately not for sufficient time and was still frozen in the middle! When I complained the response was “Sorry about that” Only one slice of bread was offered to my partner at a charge of £4.50…….most restaurants offer at least two in our experience. For the main course my partner had cod. Advised it was ‘salty’ but assumed that as it was from the ocean it would be salty. However, it was cooked in rock salt which was still palatable in rocks on the plate. Vegetable were perfectly cooked but were dripping in oil as were the potatoes parmentier. We decided not to stay for dessert. The toilet bin was overflowing and there was no napkins to wipes your hands on and the toilet was leaking My husband sustain a fall in the garden as we were leaving and no member of staff came to see if he was OK. Overall experience was extremely disappointing and we certainly won’t be returning or recommending it.

Everything was perfect: the staff was incredibly kind and professional, the breakfast was delicious, and we rested. The rooms were spacious and clean. The grounds were beautiful as well, with many herbs and plants. We enjoyed our daily walks; my husband rode their bikes.
