THIS IS A REAL REVIEW. READ VERY CAREFULLY. Do NOT to this resort. First of all, it is NOT a 5 star resort. 4 at best. Secondly, it is NOT an adults only.(only a section of it is but everything you need...restaurants, bars, etc are in the other areas) Very deceiving I have been to easily 20 all inclusive resorts and this was hands down the worst. Loud. Our room overlooked a swamp. There was restorations going on in the area that we PAID to have a quiet area. They moved us to a new room, where...COCKROACHES. I could write a book. The entire week when we complained.. got jerked around by "guest Service". Even contacted by our travel agent and they jerked her around. It's like they were all reading a script like robots. The beach is a disaster and no one on it. You can't swim in the ocean. You have to bribe someone if you want a chair by the pool. Literally. And they were staff! I have never seen anything like this. "Restaurants reservations" are a farse. Every time you showed up, line ups and they had no clue of your reservations. Got locked out of our room, twice. I could go on and on. Let me make this clear. We were not looking for anything other than to be treated fairly and to fix this. It became clearly that we were just getting lip service and the truth is, they did not care! So, all this reviews and web sites all look the same after a while. I find it very, very hard to believe that this is an isolated incident. It can't be because I spoke to other we met at the resort and they had some interesting stories as well. It can't be a coincidence. Don't say I didn't warn you.....

I have just returned from a family trip from the Royalton Hideaway. There was a group of 20 of us ranging in age from 19 - 87. We had a great family trip. The food and drinks were all great, the room was nice. We didn't have a nice view from our room balcony but that was fine, since we didn't spend a lot of time in our room. Staff were all very nice. We were in the Hideaway Adults only section of the resort. Since we were in adults only, I didn't expect to be using the same facilities as the family section. All the restaurants were common with the exception of 1 in our section. We did have our own pool and bar in the evening and our own entertainment. Because the restaurants were shared, there was a lot of walking to reach each restaurant in the evening. Not a big deal for most, but if you have mobility issues, it's an added factor to consider. It was a 15 min walk for me to go from the lobby bar to return an item to my room and back to the lobby bar. Another factor to consider for mobility is the uneven surfaces around the resort. Lots of small platforms, that can be a hazard if you are not careful. My husband met a woman who broke her ankle from falling/tripping off a platform. The beach was nice and sandy but did have a lot of seaweed. I would advise anyone to take some Benadryl cream or something similar. There were a few in our group that did have quite few bug bites. The pool chairs get filled up quite quickly so you need to be up nice and early to get any chairs or cabanas. I would say this resort overall was very nice - but my biggest issue was how difficult it is to make a dinner reservation. The resort says no reservations, but if you want to eat at 7 or 7:30 the only way to do that is to purchase a bottle of wine or an "upcharge" item. If you don't then you will be eating at 8:30. I have been to many resorts over the years, and this resort was the most difficult to have dinner at a decent time. This was a complaint that I heard many times over the course of our stay from other customers. I would suggest being a diamond club member because then you can make dinner reservations. While my vacation was great with my family, I would not return to this resort but look for one that is strictly adult only.

I cannot stress how incredible this place is. This was our honeymoon and everything that could have made it memorable was done and more! We arrived late at night, the representative apologised and said our room was still being organised and asked us to go to dinner whilst we waited, we were starving so we were happy to eat. Coming back we were told they were actually preparing a new room for us, an upgrade so we could celebrate our honeymoon. It was on the top floor, a bath with jets, a balcony overlooking the pool and stairs leading to the roof where we had our own private jacuzzi, I am not ashamed to say we were jumping up and down with the room we were given. We had no issues in this room, it was always cleaned and restocked daily, we slept comfortably and room service was always quick and friendly and gave us hot food. We stayed in the Hideaway pool as we were happy to not have children splashing around on our honeymoon. The pool was cold but needed sometimes when the Sun was scorching down on us, a 10 second dip and we were comfortable in it. The swim up pool was great, always 2 or 3 bartenders available. A BBQ was always available when we were there at lunch and gave a good variety of food. We felt so relaxed on the sunbeds and staff would approach us and ask if we required any refills or if there was anything we needed. Top service every day. We tried most of the restaurants at the resort (simply running out of time due to how many there were). The buffet was an immense variety, we tried lots of new foods and finished everything. The restaurants we particularly enjoyed were Armadillo (Tex-Mex), Dorado (Seafood Grill) and Caribbean Grill. Just like room service, always fast and friendly service with hot food (including on Valentine's day!) After my wife found out about the spa she booked us a spot on Valentine's Day. The massage was relaxing and time just seemed to fly as our masseuses were fantastic, lots of tension and aches were removed and we felt so refreshed afterwards. Then we went for hydrotherapy, other than a jet of water that my wife felt a little uncomfortable it was very relaxing as well, particularly the bubble bath beds (my best description of them). The entertainment was overall enjoyable. I will always have memories of seeing my wife slide down an inflatable lane to throw a ball at skittles to score a strike in the pool. The Queen tribute band was great, an excellent impersonation not just from the music and singing but also the personality of Freddie Mercury. I also never thought I would be dancing in Cancun for a Brazilian beach party at night but I did, and I enjoyed it! I could write more, but if you have read this review I think you get the idea. This was the best place for us to spend our honeymoon. There were no faults with the resort, staff, food, drinks or entertainment. I cannot express how much this place was beyond fantastic, we will be coming back here for a special wedding anniversary, and we will be staying in the same room as before (even if we do have to pay for it this time!) Please don't hesitate about going here, you will have an amazing time and you won't regret a second of it. And if you are staying at Hideaway and you're not sure what to order, I recommend the Love Paradise cocktail, very appropriate for this place.
