We loved the hotel. The location is fantastic and the main buildings and pools are beautiful. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and incredibly attentive and helpful. The food was excellent in all the restaurants. We particularly enjoyed dinner in Zafarani where the curries were delicious and also the Sunday Brunch at the C Beach Club. The cocktails were very good and the wine, which is from South Africa, was also of a high standard. The facilities at the hotel were very good. It is a pity the Adult Pool isn't heated though as it was very cold. The beach is lovely. but we recommend taking beach shoes for swimming as there are little stones and bits of coral in the sand. Although the sea is very shallow close to shore, there is a strong current so as a result we didn't try any of the watersports. There was plenty to do however. We went with our adult children and none of us were bored. We would recommend the boat trip including swimming with dolphins, which was amazing. We also really enjoyed the Quad Bike trip in the Nature Reserve which included a stop to swim in a beautiful natural rockpool. My son and I went riding on the beach which was enjoyable but sedate as you are only allowed to walk not trot or canter. We also played tennis and golf. The golf course is very well presented and the tennis courts are good quality. The rooms at Awali were nice if a little basic for a hotel of this standard. Overall we had a wonderful time. It was definitely the best family holiday we have ever been on. Mauritius is a beautiful island. The hotel is very well run with fantastic staff and excellent food. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Resort is tired and the service is very hot and miss. Lack of detail and training of staff where the basics aren’t covered like clearing away tables after people have left tables. We also booked an ocean view room and ended up with a room that overlooked the very noisy kids pool. We paid a premium for an ocean view and complained 4 times to reception who said they would pass it along to the management. Nothing was done about this and we ended up just forgetting about it in order to try and enjoy the holiday.

This was our second time at the Awali and it didn’t disappoint despite concerns it would never match up to our first trip. But it did. The sunsets from the beach are amazing. A very friendly relaxed atmosphere. When you leave the resort for a run/walk the security guard always says “welcome home” and you really feel as if this is what the resort is trying to capture. The attention to detail is wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit.
