Third but Certainly not Last Visit to the Gran Tinerfe

This was our third stay at this hotel. We opted for a sea view mini suite that was well worth the extra payment. The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and varied. Avoid the restaurant at busy times if you can as it can be very busy around the buffet. Location couldn’t be better for walks along the sea front. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.

Grand time in Tenerife

Picked this hotel as have used the H10 chain before and like the ambience and atmosphere of these hotels. Liked that everything was nearby as well - beach, supermarket, walks to other areas and bus stop, so chose this hotel. This H10 is not as smart as the others we have been to and the lobby area needs an upgrade as is quite shabby. However was really glad we picked this hotel as its in a good spot. The access straight onto the beach is great and also has private access for the hotel toilet and shower room nearby which is a bonus. The beach itself is a lovely soft dark sandy beach bay with shallow water and rock pools although hard to get a lounger later in the day. Having visited fanabe and del duque and the other places along the way , I really preferred our little beach corner. The room was big and comfortable enough with a big balcony and cupboard. The bath is quite hard to get in and out of and the shower gels are on the wall which is a bit awkward. Had to wait for the lift a lot. We didn't pay the extra for sea view and had a view of the mountains which was lovely. We were right over the bar area which had music every evening but it only went on until about 11 pm and saved having to go downstairs to hear it but should choose a room on other side if want to avoid this. The food choices and selections were good and it was lovely dining on the terrace with the sun setting. Have to book your dining time -later on in the evening it is more difficult to be seated on the terrace. There is a shop on site and reading room and card tablets and pleasant places to sit. There is a choice of other restaurants on site. We tried one for lunch, the food was standard but the view was lovely over the beach. There are a few pools and lots of loungers. I really liked the heated pool it was so warm and enjoyed swimming here and liked this corner bit the best. They have aqua fit every day in the pool and they do pool bikes about once a week too. There are lots of sun bed loungers too. There is a lovely area by the sunshine bar with lounge seats and loungers overlooking the sea and near the beach access and mikes cafe. Mikes is good too with cakes and coffees also with view over the beach. The hotel is near to a lovely walk towards costa adeje where there are lovely places to sit and enjoy the stunning sunsets or you can walk the other way towards las americas. I enjoyed the entertainment at the hotel with flamenco, music quiz , acrobatics etc, There is also the chill out terrace that wasn't used much maybe as it was winter but they have comfortable beds to lie on and enjoy the views over the beach and can take your drinks out here. What stood out in this hotel was the work ethic. Everyone worked so hard in the bar, restaurant, mikes, the entertainment team and were all friendly. The staff were all well presented in their uniforms and are a credit to the hotel. I was very inspired by the fitness team Ruben in particular who seems dedicated. I had a go at the stretching classes latin class as well as the aqua fit and pool bike. He does teach you and it inspired me to try and keep this up when coming home. There is so much on offer on the fitness programme something for everyone. Its a really great team. So in summary had a great time, beautiful views from the hotel, nice food, great staff, good exercise, great location on beach. Also was able to do a trip to La Gomera as its near to Los Christianos to get the ferry. Glad we picked this hotel and not others we had been looking at

2/3* tired high-rise hotel masquerading as 4* with loud poor entertainment - kept us awake every nigh. Nice pool area

A very dated high rise property with updated external areas but old basic 2 star bedrooms, leaky old bathrooms, and terrible loud and awful loud holiday camp style entertainment that keeps the whole hotel up until post midnight every night whether you want it or not. Such a pity really. There are too many rules, there is no coffee in the restaurant and even breakfast the hot drinks are powdered Nescafe from a vending machine. The 1970’s are truly in evidence here. Decent buffet, good coffee shop by the pool and perfectly friendly and competent staff. Nice outdoor areas and we had a reserved sun-bed each. Nice touch. But the rooms are large, cold and the bathrooms must be 40 years old. Some mean touches like charging extra for a safe key or a kettle in the room. The gourmet dining experience was hilariously poor quality, like eating mediocre wedding food in a strange windowless basement meeting room with repetitive video loops. Such a pity really. 4 star pool area. 1 star bathrooms. 2 star bedrooms. 0 star entertainment unless you like very loud bingo at 11.55. Adults only means the place is quiet but the entertainment ruins this. It is a 2/3 star place. Could have been worse. But. Meh!
