In the north of the island of Ibiza, Cala San Vicente stands out, a place where one can still feel the traditional ambience and characteristics of the island. Opposite the sea stands Grupotel Imperio Playa, an ideal hotel for those who are looking to relax and unwind from the daily grind.

We went to this hotel in sept 22, the buffet food is at best tepid but mostly cold, not helped by cold plates. All the British seemed to be given rooms on the side rear of the building overlooking the next building fire escapes and rear services road. Hotel seems to cater mainly for Italians, who are very very noisy and loud! Didn’t see or hear from a tui rep all week. Nowhere nice to just sit and read eg. Lounge area .absolutely NO entertainment for anyone who doesn’t speak Italian. Would not recommend and won’t go again.

Family of 5 and we had a good experience overall. Its furthest from airport but the trade off is a superb beach hidden in a beautiful cove. Hotel staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. We were half board and would say the food was always of a good standard. Rooms were adequate and always well cleaned and tidy. Pool was small but with a fantastic beach it didn't bother us. Sadly all the entertainment and kids clubs/activities were for Spanish speakers ( some Italian too). The activities staff never approached us or made any effort to engage our children, even ignored them. Also every evening show was in Spanish too. This was strange because the hotel and catering staff were brilliant. As this hotel is in a remote spot there isn't much to do, nowhere to walk, not many shops etc, so be prepared to spend all of your time on the beach or by the pool, then the evening in the hotel bar. Despite the few negatives we still had a lovely week and made great memories.

All of the staff at this hotel were lovely and friendly, always smiling, polite and helpful and made the holiday experience enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and tidy. The rooms were what you would normally expect and were cleaned every day. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning and fridge worked well, but a kettle would have been nice. The safety deposit box could be hired for 10.5 euros per week. The bathroom had a slightly odd configuration, and people with mobility issues may struggle to get in/out of the slippy bath/shower past the toilet. In the restaurant, the always smiling waiters worked extremely hard and were attentive to what you needed. The food was mostly delicious, always fresh and some cooked to order, with a good selection. However, our only criticism would be that the supposed hot food was only ever lukewarm/cold. Being half-board, buying an evening meal drinks package wristband was good value for money, as it meant for 6 euros a night (have to book for all nights of your stay) you could have unlimited wine/beer/soft drinks/water while dining. The pool area was quite small for the size of hotel, and it could be an issue getting sunbeds, with not enough always available. There was a list of rules up for pool area use, and one of those was that children under 6 years old were not allowed to use this pool, so had to use the one in the next door hotel, which looked to be a better pool for them anyway. For the first couple of nights of our stay, the lounge bar closed at 6pm, although the hotel bar next door was open until midnight. This changed after the arrival of a large amount of Italian holidaymakers, when the bar then opened until midnight. Entertainment/activities were non-existent for English holidaymakers in this hotel, as the VeraClub entertainment team put on shows/activities in Italian only. (Not sure why the hotel appears to have 2 names.) The hotel next door had entertainment on a couple of nights. There was no Tui information available in the hotel, and no rep visits. The hotel was right on the beach front, and the view was stunning. The resort was very quiet (but was very popular on a weekend when the beach got very busy) and definitely suited our needs for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
