5 weeks ago I holidayed in Crete in a different hotel and it’s only what I can describe as a turd rolled in glitter! I also always booked in the same hotel for this trip but after such a bad hotel we changed for my mums 60th birthday to Grecotel White Palace. Let’s start firstly with the welcome from the hotel: As we arrived our bags were whisked away from the taxi driver and we were taken to some comfortable sofas. Straight away we were presented with a fresh cold towel and a welcome drink. This always shows straight off how a hotel is setting the scene. There they took our passports and checked us in all whilst we were sat comfortable and I didn’t once have to stand in a reception watching a clock seeing how long it took them to check me in. Then we recorded our key via the reservations manager and he gave us a tour and hints and tips about what was where etc. This was a lovely touch and we felt that we were ready straight off and knew where what was: Secondly let’s talk about staff… The staff here are truly wonderful and super friendly. I’ve never been to a hotel with such great staff. Nothing was ever to much trouble and they all seemed throughly happy to see you. I can’t name all but a huge thank to the two ladies in the Creperie and Nikolai at the pool. Now onto Hotel Cleanliness: The hotel is immaculate. It’s like some secret fairies appear clean and disappear. I understand it’s a white palace but it genuinely was super clean and white. Next up the Room: The room was large and felt great and airy again super clean and always fresh towels. The water was topped up and whilst we didn’t use the mini-bar it was all included. The bathroom was also a good size and plenty of storage too. I didn’t mind that the shower was separate and in the bedroom but my mum found it weird. TIP: if your not happy to shower in front of each other sit in the sitting room whilst the other showers 🤣🤣 Pool: We lay by a beautiful and tranquil pool just above the creperie. One downside - due to this my stomach and dress size has grown the smell oh my! It was delightful haha. The loungers are extremely comfortable but there was sunbed wars and if you weren’t down by 7:45am you aren’t getting a lounger by this pool. It was so peaceful and extremely calm. There is a secondary pool which was a little more hectic but you mainly found the kids and families playing here and whilst the pools where very close you actually couldn’t hear a thing. There was a corridor separating both but it was like a different world when you stepped through. It was like there was an adult pool and family pool and everyone understood this without actually anyone saying or even having an adults pool. The staff were great with keeping you hydrated. Beach: We can’t comment much as we stayed pretty much around the pool area. There’s an adult side and a family side. It looked clean and we saw staff cleaning the beach and removing the seaweed. The sea was fairly calm whilst we were there and it’s located in the perfect place to watch sunset. There are also some dotted hammocks over the sea and great to watch sunset from. Entertainment: There was always some form of music on each evening between 8-11pm and whilst our room was fairly close we could only faintly hear it. Lastly Food: We thought the food could be a little better. We enjoyed what we had but have had slightly better at other all inclusive. There’s a great wine room with refrigerated wine stores and plenty of choice all included. Buffet: We ate here 3 nights out of 4. We enjoyed the food. The desserts could be a little better. The choice was varied bar one evening a lot of the food had muscles and my mum had an allergy to muscles. All the food was labelled which was great and the show cooking was also helpful as they would listen to what you wanted and how cooked etc. The bread at white palace was also great and all made on site. You would often see the sourdough ready to be baked for the next lot. Seating was fantastic, there was plenty of areas. Indooor, outdoor and an adults only section. All in all we rated the buffet a 8/10. A La Carte: these are all included in the cost which on some Greek hotels they limit you to x amount per stay. We tried the Greek (Tavernaki) I actually wished we hadn’t bother. My mum didn’t enjoy the meal at all and whilst I thought it was ok I was actually shocked to order Calamari and to be served frozen rings. We’ve been going to Cyprus for many years now and have become quite accustomed to Greek/cypriot cooking. Baby squid fresh is inabundant and right on your doorstep that it really shouldn’t be frozen. We actually said this was the worst meal we had here and wished we hadn’t bothered. I’d rate it 3/10 3 for the friendly staff albeit a little slow. Creperie: They open 10:30-6pm and is all included again some hotels would have charged extra for this even when all inclusive. You can order crepes, amazing waffles (my favourite) and Gelato which is Carte Dior. They can also serve milkshake, smoothies and frozen slush. The two ladies down here are fabulous and super friendly. We had a great chat every day with them. Chocolatier/ patisserie: We only ventured here the one night. We found the member of staff to be a little cold vs all the other staff. Not rude but not particularly that friendly. We felt that we were a bit of a hidderence to her. I also felt that when we asked for a couple of items she wanted to gate keep them. All in all I will certainly be recommended this hotel to anyone wanting to come to Crete and Greece for that matter. We may even visit again next September for another girls trip. We’ve had a fabulous time and thank you for such a warm welcoming. What could have been a dreaded holiday at the other hotel this one was a complete opposite and we’ve come away extremely happy and relaxed.

Had an amazing stay at Grecotel LUXE-ME White Palace in Crete. I went with a friend and we were both very impressed with this hotel. We had a standard sea view room which was excellent, very clean, great sea views, powerful shower and complimentary bottle of wine on arrival. The well stocked free mini bar is a nice touch and was replenished daily. The staff are very friendly and work very hard to look after their guests. Special thanks to the girls taking orders and bringing drinks to us in the beautiful outside roof terrace at the Sunset bar terrace. What a stunning place to relax with a good book and admire the beautiful scenery during the day or visit after dinner for chilled entertainment. Just fantastic. The hotel is beautiful with plenty of sunbeds dotted around the hotel or on the beach in addition to the sunbeds by the swimming pool. The hotel was busy but we always found a sunbed if prepared to look at all options of finding one. We loved the gelateria and found the food in the main restaurant to be freshly cooked, great choice and quality. We also loved the Asian White restaurant which was superb. We visited the Algrecotel Farm on Sunday which was very interesting and can honestly say have never had so many courses of food served in one sitting. Food was excellent, wine plentiful and again the staff work so hard to look after everyone. Definitely a must do trip which is included in your stay. Location is fantastic despite a long transfer from airport utility us well worth it. Outside the hotel there is a bus stop which runs regularly to Rethymnon which is just beautiful and also must do trip. Remember to get bus tickets from the shop in White Palace first. All in all a wonderful holiday at the Whute Palace and will definitely return with my family. Thank you to all who work at the hotel x
