Almost wonderful

The good stuff…. Coral reef club is on a very pretty stretch of beach with beautiful warm clear water and soft white sand . We loved swimming to the raft and canoeing - so much fun. We loved how spacious the luxury cottage rooms were - dotted around the absolutely stunning gardens . We saw and heard lots of different species of birds and even some monkeys…. It’s a gorgeous tropical vibe there … The guys on the beach - Antony and Carlos and sheldon were just great. So warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. Shrimp tacos to die for . Going out to eat at restaurants nearby was fun. Taxis are easy to get from hotel reception. We loved Nishi in Holetown in particular. The bad It’s a very old crowd in February. Think average age 75. The interiors of the bedrooms could definitely be updated a little though particularly the mattress in the main bedroom which was very lumpy and hurt my back and the sofa bed which was absolutely awful to be honest The ancient sun loungers need updating - they sag and again give you a bad back. And they are far too crammed together on the beach for a 5 star hotel . Some of the ladies at breakfast a bit unfriendly but we all have our off days. Mostly positive things to say. I really just think they need to invest in a few new things to keep this hotel up to date.

A very special holiday

My first time in Barbados and it didn't disappoint. Family run hotel and a lot of the guests have been coming for many years. Everyone very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful setting next to the beach and eating with the waves meters from us - idyllic. Big shout out to Jason who kept our drinks topped up and was good fun and great chat, Mark(ie) for sorting our cool box out for the fishing trip. (nothing too much trouble.) Shelly for the eggs in the morning... she works incredibly hard, Stephen for his happy, jolly demeaner and attentive service and Zaron (don't know if I've got the correct spelling from water sports for taking us out in the hobit. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thank you to all the hotel staff.

Highly recommend

This family run hotel is so lovely, on the beach, lovely terrace for drinks (great cocktails), food great, rooms with lots of space, large terrace and some with better views than others- rooms that are actually on the beach are the best, location is good as it’s close to many restaurants nearby, the staff are all so lovely, helpful, happy and a joy to see every day although breakfast team should be a little quicker with tea/coffee orders! front desk is super helpful if you need anything and nothing is to much trouble so all in all if you’re looking for a relaxing time with a good energy in beautiful surroundings then Coral Reef is the place to stay (in our experience) :)
