My wife and I enjoyed the perfect babymoon at Prince Maurice. This was our first time visiting Mauritius and although we had some reservations about my wife flying so far at 7 months pregnant, we needn't have worried. Our entire stay was one of blissful relaxation, romance and tranquility. Prior to arriving, we had been in touch with the hotel to make dinner reservations and book a catamaran excursion. The hotel does recommend booking dinner at the Asian and Barasois restaurants 48hrs so this is something to bear in mind. Communication with the hotel was very straightforward and all emails were replied to very promptly. Upon arrival we had a wonderful welcome from Akil who offered us welcome drinks and gave us a tour of the grounds and an overview of the hotel. This wonderful reception really set the tone for the rest of the stay. I could talk at great length about every aspect of our stay but I will summarise a few of the key points that stood out for us: - Every review we had read before arriving spoke about how brilliant the service is and we would absolutely agree. The word we would use is consistency. You will often find brilliant individuals at top hotels, but I can honestly say I have never experienced such a high level of consistency across every interaction we had with the team at Prince Maurice, no matter where in the hotel they worked. The team will do whatever they can to make your experience wonderful, “no” doesn’t appear to be in anyone’s vocabulary. It feels almost unfair to single anyone out because everyone was so brilliant, but Lionel at the pool really went out of his way everyday from the first moment we met him to make our stay magical, and Wes at the Barachois restaurant had such a brilliant sense of humour but also remembered small details about us when we bumped into him a few nights later which was very special to us. - The food is excellent. There are three main restaurants to choose from. Barachois is a very romantic restaurant located on a number of floating platforms on the lagoon. I would recommend having an aperitif at the nearby floating bar as it’s the perfect place to watch the sun set, however do get there early as it can be very busy and is intimate in size. The hotel does a number of special menu nights (at both Archipel and The Asian) which offer great variety to your dinner plans. We went to the Mauritian buffet and Indian curry night, both of which were outstanding. There were also Seafood buffet and beach BBQ evenings as well. If you love your cooking we would absolutely recommend the cooking class. Ours was with the Barachois head chef where we learnt to make a chicken and prawn curry which we can’t wait to make for our friends at home. - The Spa is outstanding. We enjoyed three treatments each and in my opinion they were the best treatments I had ever had. I fell asleep during two of them which speaks volumes about how relaxing they were, and they were very accommodating in the massages they gave my pregnant wife which she thoroughly enjoyed. All of the team at the spa are wonderful and I can’t recommend a treatment there highly enough. - The gym is very well equipped with machinery, a significant amount of free weights and my personal favourite, a TRX! There are free gym classes every day. I did three classes and enjoyed all of them. The instructors are all very friendly and welcoming regardless of your level of fitness. - The water sports available are very extensive with kayaks, sailing boats, hobbeycats, pedaloes and paddle boards available. The real highlight for me though was the opportunity to try water skiing, which is free for everyone to try. On my first go I wasn’t able to stand up but by the end of the holiday I was able to ski around the lagoon and it was a lot of fun! - Kids are welcomed at the hotel and there is a kids club and baby sitting service available. It seemed ideal for younger children, with ages of the children we saw ranging from babies that were a few months old to 8 years old, although I’m sure older children go as well. Despite there being a lot of children it didn’t feel too loud, all of the children we saw were very well behaved and enjoyed playing with their parents in the pool or paddling in the sea. - We valued the little touches that make Prince Maurice standout. Whether that’s the complementary water that is brought to you when you sit down by the beach or by the pool, the sunglasses cleaning (I hadn’t realised how smudged mine were until they had been cleaned!), the ice cream that is handed out in the afternoon, the bottles of water that are continuously replenished in your room throughout the day and the afternoon pancake station. These little things really do go a long way. There is so much more we could write about our stay but the biggest endorsement we can make is to say that we are already planning our next holiday at Prince Maurice. Thank you so much for the most beautiful experience.
This was our second visit to the Prince Maurice. We upgraded to a villa suite which was total luxury - spacious and unbelievably comfortable. Everything from the decor, the furniture, linen, towels, many little extras contributed to a feeling of well being. The hotel is beautifully and elegantly designed. The main infinitely pool was a delightful focal point, with the backdrop of the beach, with restaurants around it and staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. They were all exceptionally sweet and helpful - towels, bottles of water, sunglass cleaning - there were many little touches which made one feel special. The food was wonderful - a 5 star buffet breakfast every morning, and each of the 3 restaurants (in particular Le Barachois, which is a sort of floating restaurant with lovely waterside views) offering very fine food and wine. I could not recommend the Constance Prince Maurice highly enough, in terms of aesthetics, service, comfort, amenities and simple utmost pleasure.
Very friendly staff. Especially Kiran, Sashi and Lionel at the pool, but also everyone else. The resort is placed very nicely, away from roads and hustle and bustle, and has nice pools and beaches, as well as beautiful views, especially from the Barachois restaurant. 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
